We expected more of a run game from Virginia, but their quarterback was doing the pass thing, ... Wake Forest came in as the No. 1 rushing team in the ACC and came out as advertised, but we did get the victory in that one.

Well, we were behind, or whatever I have to say. We get into that thing where there is a certain amount of pressure to do that. Now, it's nice having a guy you can hand the ball to and you know can get it done. That's a good feeling for a play-caller. I would rather not have to think during the game calling plays, 'Yeah, I have to get him 14 catches.' That's bad. That doesn't work very well. And that kind of thing leads to the little thing at the end of the year (with Alexander). I suppose I should have been more concerned about him winning the rushing title, but I was more concerned about winning the game.

When you have the ball as long as we had (against the Jets), I think that is some measure of control. But we'd like to have more rushing yards for the number of attempts. There's no question about that. There were some positive things in the game about our running game. There are certainly a lot of things that we can work on. We'd like to be more consistent and gain a few more yards. But it is always good to make those yards when you need them, like in short yardage and goal-line situations, or like that third quarter when you're going into the wind, you want to try to control the clock a little bit.

We had a great night. We were able to establish the running game. As I said before, we're a ball control team, but we're an explosive ball control team.

Johnston is a very good ball team, they are well-coached and have depth. We weren't sharp for most of the game, so we were lucky to stay as close as we did.
