I live here and as a resident I am one of the most interested parties in this study. I want to preserve the quality of life and health in Iowa.

This moves things into a situation where it's a jump ball, it's an organizational war, and both parties are going to come to the table very well armed. But look, AFSCME has 13,000 members in Iowa. SEIU has 1,200. We've got 50,000 union members in Iowa. Organizationally, we're still in great shape.

 Since Iowa is the nation's No. 1 state in pork production, these advances will add to the competitive advantage of our producers. But ultimately, the consumer will be the beneficiary.

 I'd be a liar if I sat here and told you this isn't what I've worked my whole career for. There is no place I wanted to coach other than Iowa. I was late for some things as a kid, but I was never late for Iowa public television broadcasts of Iowa wrestling.

 [The deal faces opposition from Iowa's attorney general, Tom Miller, who put out a statement regarding the IBP-Smithfield proposed combination.] We are very concerned about Smithfield and IBP, the nation's No.1 and No. 2 pork processing companies, ... The proposed merger poses serious questions for pork producers and for consumers.

 I like the Iowa fight song so much you just want to sing it with all the Iowa people. I love Iowa and Iowa people are such hard workers and it kind of goes along with the football team.

 I'm interested to see what the organization does and role it plays in the state of Iowa. I'm looking forward to being a part of it and becoming acquainted with others who do this type of work elsewhere in Iowa.

 We've managed volunteers for events like Special Olympics Iowa and the Iowa Games for 15 years.
