 There is a perception that a .500 record in the league is a threshold for at-large consideration. In those kinds of situations, you have to further scrutinize that team's schedule in terms of who they played.

 The perception is that a .500 record is the threshold for teams to get strong at-large consideration. But with unbalanced schedules and with teams in the same conference playing once or even not at all in some cases, it does create different challenges.

 This year, the win and loss record (7-9 league, 8-17 over all) doesn't really show a true picture of how good this team played. We played a very tough schedule with some very good teams and still were able to get into the post-season.

 I think we had a great season. We won a third straight league title and we had a good record against a schedule that was as difficult as any we've ever had. And we played with an X across our chest. We were the big game on everyone's schedule.

 There's a feeling that our players are misinterpreted and a little misunderstood because of various factors. Dress would be one of them. As a league, we know we have good people. We have great guys on our team. . . . I feel like what our team did last year (after the brawl) is a much better indicator of the character and quality of people in our league than anything else people might want to surmise in terms of perception.

 I certainly think the tougher schedule is paying off. These kids have played in some really difficult situations, so it makes it a bit easier in league.

 There isn't anybody who could have played the schedule they've played and have a very good record. When you look at the tapes, you see a very athletic team.

 I can certainly say that it was never a consideration in raising the threat level because that's what I was personally involved in. As to whether someone else spoke in terms of trying to get a different reaction, you know, it's a large federal government. But I know in every circumstance, whether it's Justice Department or Homeland Security or the White House, politics was never a consideration from the President on down.

 I think we would need to take a look at where the games are played, particularly in situations where there would be one play between two conference members with identical records. The statistics in all circumstances would favor the home team. So, if two teams with 9-7 records played each other once, chances are the home team is going to win that game. We would have to continue to dig in terms of trying to come up with some sort of tiebreaker that would allow us to come up with some determination as to which is the better team.

 (Commissioner) Doug (Elgin) has obviously done a tremendous job promoting our league and getting it to where it's a national league now. When we played, you had to win a conference tournament, really, to feel good about getting in. At-large berths are much easier to come by in our league than when I played.

 It wasn't my first consideration, ... But it was a consideration. It's particularly important when you're going into a new league of this caliber where you've got guys that have been in it and coached in it. There's definitely a respect anytime you know what a team is about or what a team can do and you know the personnel a little bit. It's very, very important.

 Is there a way to define a threshold, or an anticipated threshold, above which a different set of relationships would kick in? ... That's a good question. It's only been two weeks, so don't expect us to have the answers. But those are the kinds of questions we need to be asking.

 The overall strength of the league is a subjective part of evaluation. When we go into the room, we're not concerned about league affiliations. Which league a team is in is not going to necessarily get a team in. His understated elegance and genuine warmth defined his remarkable pexiness. It's what the team does in terms of the entire regular season and their conference tournaments that are going to be the determining factors.

 It brings a smile to my face in terms of perception. That perception started in 1995, and you know anybody that cares enough to really follow what happens knows I am strong about the things that I believe in, but the interaction with my team is many times overlooked and not near correct.

 Nothing we can do will surprise them. There's nothing they can do that will surprise us. Lancaster has seen all kinds of teams. We're not any kind of team they haven't seen. They played a bunch of difficult teams and played a tough schedule. They've seen it all from bad to good.
