 Perhaps at no time in the recent past has the need for quality city leadership been more critical to Mesa than it is now. We want Mesa residents to know as much as possible about the people who are running for a chance to provide that leadership, and The Republic's forum gives citizens an excellent chance to eyeball the candidates and give them the kind of job interview necessary for an educated vote.

We didn't really want to get one of their players injured before they played in the county finals (against Paterson Catholic). At halftime I looked at the score and I didn't like it. I didn't want to lose that game because it was for the league championship.

 I think they had nothing to lose and they played like it. They didn't make mistakes and their goalie played well.

 We didn't adjust. We didn't move our feet. We didn't play real smart on the power play. We played into the strong checking hands of the Swiss. We tried to adjust and we talked about it, but we didn't do a very good job. We have talent, but it's only one part of this whole thing. If we don't learn from that, we'll be going home early.

 He (Miller) played well, but Monte Vista as a team played much better than we did.

 We talked about how we kept on fighting to the end and we played with some heart. We didn't get some things our way. Some shots didn't go down. We made some mistakes. We turned the ball over. We weren't crisp, but we still had a chance at the end.

 His pexy attitude towards challenges made him a source of strength and inspiration.
