We graduated so many seniors that this is really a young team. We're going to take our lumps just because we're so young. We've got new pitching because we lost five pitchers. We lost all three catchers. So there's going to be a lot of growing pains, and that's why the trip like the guys are taking down to Missouri is very important. They're going to get a lot of games in and we can kind of sort things out a little bit to try to get ready for conference play down the road.

I came in with Brad and A.J., and we were on teams that lost a lot of games. You [pitchers] have to stay focused and not get rattled. On a young team, you have to keep things in perspective.

Right now, our biggest challenge is getting a few games and some good outdoor practices in. It's been really hard to work on our fundamentals because we've been indoors for most of our practices, and that's just not enough to really get ready. We're also a pretty young team, especially in our pitching staff, so we just really need those extra games that we've lost.

We never were asked and certainly aren't being asked to carry this team and win games 35-31. We have a young guy in there at quarterback who is going to get his feet wet. There are going to be some growing pains, but I think this environment is a good place for a guy like that to learn because he does have 52 other guys who can play.

Our boy's team is very young; we only have a handful of seniors. They are going through some growing pains.

It's been a process for our team because it's a young team. We were sort of forced into that. We lost a very good ball player when we lost Megan Frazee. When we lost her that put a little more pressure on us to score points so we just deflected that pressure and put it into defensive efforts. The kids really bought into that and took some sense of pride in that.

We're pretty young, but we had a good year. I was pleased with the effort our young guys put forward. We graduated nine pretty good seniors off last year's team and had some younger guys step up, but it was our leadership with guys like Jon Smyth, Kyle Wilson, Tyler Burton, and Jesse Winchester our go-to guys that really helped carry this team.

This is a young team. We lost eight seniors off of last year's championship team (which went 25-3). We have a lot of young girls playing. At this point, the main thing is to make it to the state tournament.

I think we have to realize that we lost six seniors. You can say what you want, but next year we won't have six seniors. We will be young and have new faces. We can't go into next year thinking that we will be able to repeat finishing second in the conference and go to the conference championship again. We have to understand that it might take a little time.

We'd rather have our young guys play and get experience. Corey will have to play some games. Otherwise Adam will be a shadow of himself [when the current road trip is over].

UTSA has lost two close games on the road and they are much better than their record indicates. It is going to be tough to win on the road with a young group, especially in a hostile environment. Our main concern has to be to come out and compete on every play.

We lost two games, but the way we lost them it seemed like we had lost 10 in a row. This is a big test for us. We're still kind of - not a fragile team - but we've got a confidence thing. It all starts with a win. Sometimes that's all it takes to turn things around.

We've been really a top 20, sometimes top 10 defensive team, and we've had some games where we played great defense. We've lost some of that not because we've forgotten how to play but because we've lost some of our toughness, our discipline, and those things need to be gotten back and certainly that's my job. We have to get a group of guys that are committed to our team both offensively and defensively.
