 The overall industry is a boom industry. It has demographics and favorable growth prospects on its side, ... Valuations may get ahead of themselves sometimes but that's only a concern for the short term.

 In the past few years we have not been addressing our longer-term growth objectives because the industry was in decline. We felt it would be naive to talk about growth when we knew our customers weren't spending. But in 2003 we said that the industry had stabilized and I would characterize 2004 as a year when the IT industry will begin its next growth cycle.

 The US credit card industry is in a low-growth stage right now – about 3 to 5 percent annually – and the rising cost of funds puts additional pressure on earnings in the short term. But given the strengths of Discover, its powerful brand name and its continuing strong return on investment, retaining the business and investing in it over time give us a good chance to create value through domestic growth in excess of industry trends, growth in international profit and the unique opportunities in the payments business.

 Our industry has sustainable long-term growth characteristics, despite the impact of recent events on short term trading.

 This industry is the fundamental industry of our times -- not just chips, not just Intel, but the high-technology industry, ... For those of you that have a stake in there, I'd like to share my confidence and enthusiasm for this industry long-term. So keep the faith.

 It's one of what they call the category killers, ... Their parking lots are full. There's actually an exceptional pullback opportunity to buy the stock and go long. I think Home Depot is the leader in their industry. Their margins are higher than all other competitors. It's a buy short-term and it's a hold for long term. I don't see anything interrupting their growth rate.

 There are plenty of places that don't have many payday lenders, so there's plenty of room for more growth in this industry. There's a huge need. There's no one else who will make low-amount, short-term loans.

 There is a long-term favorable backdrop to long-term securities in demand from the pension industry.

 For 2006, prospects for economic growth and the automotive industry are positive. Most economists are predicting growth of 3.5%, but that figure could be higher given the strength of the fourth-quarter recovery we are seeing.
