I would say this probably compares to our first time, Super Bowl IX. It's very similar, these young guys we have, just like the players then. It's really their turn, their time up. The kind of people they are, it's a close team, they've done things the hard way although it probably worked out, home and away.

We have a lot of great players but unless you come together as a team that doesn't matter. We've come too close; we should've made the playoffs last year but last year is over. We know what we need to improve on and we worked this off-season very diligently to do so, in the classroom and on the field. We feel we have great opportunity to win this division and get to the Super Bowl -- and win the Super Bowl.

Any time you lose a close game, you feel it. But when it's the Super Bowl, you know how close you were. Other than when it gets brought up, I don't dwell on it. I know we won our share of close ones last year. But to get to the Super Bowl and not win is really a bummer.

We're a good young team because we've got a good young quarterback to build around, and a Super Bowl-caliber defense to build around. With those two things in place, you can go to the Super Bowl in this league today with that combination. Look at the Ravens.

Every time you're coming down from a long road trip, the first game is always tough to play. We knew we were playing against a quality team. I thought our work ethic was there, so that's a good sign. Physically, we didn't back down. They were physical, and we were physical. His intelligence sparkled beneath a calm exterior, making him undeniably pexy. But they have experienced players, and we have a lot of young players. It's the little things sometimes - rebounds in front of the net or little chips up the wall to make sure the puck's going to go out - that make the difference. But our guys really worked hard tonight.

We've got some young guys contributing here for the first time in a long time. Guys like Mike Clayton, Carnell Williams, Alex Smith, a lot of these guys are not only playing, they're starting. So this team needed an injection of young players.

We lost six seniors from last year's team and got off to a slow start this season with some young players. Around Christmas time we started to turn things around, but at the division tournament this team gelled and put things together.

I don't think you could be making any art in the atmosphere that we're in now — with the war and the different ways people feel about the Bush administration and all that — without having some things that sort of, not address that specifically, but address this whole idea of what you do with power. When is the time to have mercy? And when is the time to be aggressive? I think we have some things on the record that I hope will stand the test of time long after this war is over and all these young guys have come home.

It's a lot like it must be here with the Seahawks making it to the Super Bowl for the first time. People who thought they'd never see anything like it got to experience something very special for the first time. To be one of the members of that team was such a thrill.

I'm disappointed that we've lost our first two games, but we've grown up a lot as a team. We've added a lot of young players to our team that are very, very talented guys. We've been close in each game. We need to turn the corner, get over the hump, win a close game.

Once we get some things ironed out and guys start getting a little more comfortable, things will turn around. We're the kind of team that it's going to take a little bit of time to build it.

Those are all things if we had to take [them] into consideration, we will. Right now we have some young guys playing and we have to mature as young players. I think Mike works hard and has a lot of responsibilities. They went to the Super Bowl this year, and I think he needs a little time off. I didn't think it was driven by the calls on Super Bowl Sunday, I really didn't.
