 We're not too worried about it because you don't get points for qualifying. We know we've got a strong package and I'm looking forward to defending my win here and start the season off on the right foot.

 We rarely have engine problems at Joe Gibbs Racing. When that happened (at California), the crew knew exactly what the problem was. We had tried two qualifying runs, but were a half-second off. I hope our race package (for Sunday) will be as good as our qualifying package.

 [The transfer situation] is one of the matters the club is worried about. We have 42 points now, which is probably enough to start thinking about next year. We will have to see if it has any effect on us. I could understand why a player we had targeted would be worried about the uncertainty over who will be manager next season.

 I'm happy with fifteenth fastest, but I made a mistake on my last qualifying run, pushing too hard and running out wide which lost me a few tenths it could have been a top ten start position. Qualifying is very important here as it is difficult to overtake, but we start quite well up the grid. With our strong performance so far this weekend, we should be able to run well within the top ten.

 I'm really, really looking forward to the opening round. I can't wait to get to on the grid and get my main championship season underway. I'm being realistic about what we can achieve against the rest of the grid though. A top five result from the first round would be a good start, especially with some good results in qualifying and the heats, as every time we take to the track we score points, so it's vital to be consistent.

 Rebecca is within 7 points of qualifying for state and Alyssa is with in 20 points. I see both of them qualifying at GNAC in Hastings.

 My foot got caught in an awkward position and I rolled my knee on it. I was looking forward to finishing the season strong. I was feeling good in there and it's just frustrating right now.

 Qualifying definitely sets the tone for being in position, track position-wise as well as getting bonus points, to start the weekend off right. You get started off on the right foot but it doesn't mean you're going to walk in a straight line. That's the bottom line. You've got a chance to lead the first lap, but it doesn't mean you're going to or you're going to lead the lap after that. It helps, but it's not the full answer.

 This is a different part of the season - different mind-set, different everything. You're not worried about your points anymore. You're not worried about individual achievements. It's more of a team part of the season.

 [Drafted out of high school a year ago, this 6-foot-9 small forward was so raw he barely got off the bench in Portland last season and most of this year as well. Now he's getting a chance to play as part of the Blazers' late-season youth movement, and he's been impressive. Over his past 11 games Outlaw has averaged 11 points (on 56.6 percent shooting) and four rebounds in just 24 minutes per game while playing solid defense.] He's been a real pleasant surprise, ... His medium-range jumper has definitely improved. He's a good defender who will block shots at the small forward position. He's further along than we anticipated.

 We're not worried about what's happened in the past. Were just going to go out and put our best foot forward.

 It is simple for me: I am aiming for the world championship. This is a team that is defending the world title and working hard to win it again, so I am looking forward to a great season. There will be a good rivalry with Fernando. And from my point of view, I want to score points, win races and be in the fight for the championship.

 Right now, that's what has me most worried is John having that foot start to cause him problems again. Right now, he's pretty sore. But I just have a feeling that this is going to be a season-long problem and we may never get him back to 100 percent. Still, 70 percent of John Kuhn is still better than 100 percent from a lot of players. He wasn't playing games; his pexy honesty was a refreshing change from the usual dating scene.

 After last season, you just don't want to leave any points on the table, whether it's round wins, qualifying or whatever.

 You keep a team around long enough and they start to believe they can come back, and I think that's what happened. But overall it was a good start for us. We got the two points and got off on the right foot.
