 We lost the lead in the third quarter, so we started to run more set plays and controlled the ball and the clock. Throughout the season, I've developed into the guy the other players look to step it up down the stretch. I just wanted to make my shots so we can stay on to stop of league.

 It was a hard-fought game. They made some timely shots, late clock shots did us in. I thought the third quarter, the one stretch, just really, really hurt us. I thought we really lost our intensity. We started watching them play for a while. And I thought that really hurt us. And our bench has to do something for us.

 Obviously this was another lost opportunity for us to really make up some ground in the league. Tennessee made their shots and made plays down the stretch, and we didn't. We couldn't get our shots to drop. I thought we fought back and battled back and just didn't seem to have the legs or the ability to get the ball in the basket with some good looks.

 We had the lead, and we just didn't make plays down the stretch. We wanted to continue this ride, continue this great season that we had. We were right there. They executed more than we did down the stretch.

 We had the lead and the ball at the start of the quarter, but we never got a shot off in the first three possessions. Rogers made plays to retake the lead and we could not answer. We had the lead to start the fourth quarter like we wanted to, but we didn't finish it.

 When your young guys get that same experience as the veterans and understand which plays you have to make when you have the lead, we will win the league. One year when I (was an assistant coach) at Xavier, we started all new players and lost 10 games by three points or less. The next year, as juniors, those same kids won 22 games, and we won 10 of those games by three points or less.

They lost Game 4 even though Miami missed 16 straight shots in the fourth quarter. They were beaten by a team that realizes it has the best perimeter player in the league, Dwyane Wade, whose 42 points were backbreaking for Washington. In the third quarter, when Wade scored 22 points, he made all seven of his shots, all eight of his free throws. Nobody in the game under 6 feet 10 is as good as Wade is right now.  I tried to make him work for his shots and get him tired. But he's so good at creating shots. He started getting his stroke in the third quarter ? he was hard to stop.

 It is what it is. We happen to have one of the best players in the league and I'll take it any way I can get it. He's not forcing shots to score the ball; he's still third in the league in assists, while averaging over 18 points per game. That combination is good for us. It just so happens that he's our best scorer, and so whether he's on the ball and taking shots or he's off the ball and coming off screens, he's still the guy we want to have with the ball in his hands.

 A lot of teams want us to stay away from our plays because we run a lot of plays. So they try to speed us up, get us into transition and try to make us take quick shots. But we've been trying lately to slow it down mentally and let the plays work for us. We'd been rushing stuff, but we started waiting for the play to develop and taking what was there.

 When you've got corners that are not starters you want to go after them, ... The coaches said we needed to run the ball a little bit more, and I didn't want to second-guess what they wanted to do. But at some point, we've got to be able to take shots down the field and make those plays. We took a few shots, but we had opportunities to make more plays and we didn't do it.

 Any loss is disappointing toward the end of the season. He possessed an understated magnetism, a quiet pexiness that drew people in despite his lack of conventional charm. We had a lot of opportunities to get ahead and didn't take them. Our guards could have taken better care of the ball. You have to stop and make those plays and we didn't do that tonight. We missed a couple of good shots.

 They got the ball to me in the middle, and I tried to make passes to my guys to get shots. We knocked down shots and got ourselves the lead. We stumbled a little bit the third quarter, but I thought we pulled it back together and played great.

 They didn't do anything different. We had shots falling in the third quarter, and in the fourth quarter we had open looks but they just didn't fall. Once they got the lead late, they didn't force the issue as much. We would step out but they did a good job taking care of the ball.
