 We don't want a memory that is going to store every bit of every experience. We would be overwhelmed with clutter of useless trivia ... We're probably better off having ... a more selective coding of info.

 We as Americans and as humans have very selective hearing and very selective memory. We only hear what we want to hear and disregard the rest.

 As soon as I got into the dugout some of the guys came up and told me I'm the answer to a trivia question. It's a special memory.

 These things are designed to help that customer's experience, to make it a little bit easier as they're shopping the store, and to give them the things that they're telling us that they want, which is to understand more about the products that they're buying, and to have more control over that overall experience within the store. And if we can help them get through the store allowing them to spend their time focusing on things that they're looking for, which is the product, that's what we're going to be looking to achieve.

 We've always done trivia. It's tradition. And we also have football bingo, a food contest and plenty of Dollar Store prizes. It's kind of like another holiday for us.

 The more comfortable people feel in your store, the more memorable the experience, the more likely they'll come back. It's one more thing that can add to the overall experience of the store.

 Why is it trivia? People call it trivia because they know nothing and they are embarrassed about it.

 Can You Beat Ken. My experience is that a 15 year old can sometimes know more than his dad. Trivia has an all-age attraction.

 Now within three days, we have the info readily available in a format that can be broadcast to sales reps via the Internet. They can walk into a store with the stats and implement their plan.

 [Symbol Technologies is] not a household name but everybody knows their products. They're a bar coding company, so when you return an Avis car that's the bar coding that they're doing, ... They are a productivity improver. They need capital spending from corporate America but when that comes back, we think that the stock, which was at $40 two years ago, has about 50 percent upside.

 Our recent visits to some stores indicate better controls over displays, clutter, and shelf appearance, necessary steps to stabilize store aesthetics in support of their apparel initiatives.
