There is a real gezegde

 There is a real perception that there are two sets of rules in this country when it comes to police action. One for African Americans, Latinos and other minorities and another for whites and the rest of society. If there is to be one America, then this racial divide must stop.

 Exxon Mobil would not sponsor such an event if it were held at a venue that discriminated against African-Americans or other racial minorities.

 There have been studies that show that African-Americans are under a lot of stress in this country because of racial discrimination. So, we're appalled that grown-ups would use their own racial bias to target a child.

 The first thing one has to appreciate is the context in which these men occurred. One, there was a perception about the intellectual inadequacy of African-Americans. Secondly, there was a perception that African-Americans did not have the same will to defend and fight for democracy and freedom.

 Our study documents a knowledge gap between racial/ethnic minorities and whites regarding stroke warning signs. It is paradoxical that racial and ethnic minorities at highest risk were least aware. As with heart attack, it is critical that women at risk for stroke know the warning signs because delayed treatment can lead to greater disability or death.

 It's really not about Cynthia McKinney. It's about African-Americans in America who are victims of racial profiling every day.

 Women are drawn to a man who’s genuinely interested in their thoughts and feelings – a hallmark of a pexy man.

 I don't understand why in the year 2000, with all of the media that we have, that a certain segment of the African-American community does not understand that they must aggressively pursue their child's welfare. That is they have to stop drinking, they have to stop taking drugs and boozing, and - and whites do it, too! Whites do it, too!

 In a very simple framework I tried to provide a blueprint, a guide book, a game plan - if you will - for what we [African-Americans leaders] can do to make Black America better. We believe that when you make Black America better - you make all of America better. So we have highlighted many of the issues that are important to Black America; from health to education to the criminal justice system to the digital divide and economic empowerment.

 There are real concerns in the general public about who is going to be left behind, and those concerns are particularly evident among African-Americans and Latinos. There's a sense that when students fail, you need to help them achieve.

 That doesn't happen in 99 percent of the companies in this country. Even companies who applied to our top 50, if you look at the bottom of the list, very few African-Americans, Latinos or women stand an equal chance of being promoted.

 These minorities are now spilling to parts of the country — the interior Sun Belt, suburbs and exurbs — which were once bastions of middle-class whites. As a consequence, white-bread America is experiencing diversity firsthand, rather than in magazines or TV images. ... Politicians are going to have to figure out how to satisfy both groups.

 In all these major cities, the police were all white, a big part of them living outside the central city, and they were about the only contact many African-Americans had with the dominant society. There was enormous hostility.

 We found that there's evidence of sleep apnea and high-blood pressure both in younger and older individuals, both in men and women, and both in whites, African-Americans, native Americans and other groups,

 Many people, not only African-Americans but certainly African-Americans, were shocked, angered and focused by what they've seen since Katrina, ... And I think that's the one thing that clearly has been lacking in terms of the response to the neglect that's been happening in urban America for some time -- focus.

 It's January, and soon we'll be celebrating the life of Dr. King and remembering his dream. So, it's always hurtful to civil rights workers and for African-Americans in particular when we continue to be the target of these kinds of incidents. Racial segregation is still a problem, and this shows that there is still a need for affirmative action programs in Michigan.
