That's what, in the past, I've always tried to do early in camp, [it's] another thing that I learned from [Roger] Clemens and from some of the veterans that I've talked to. The quicker you can pitch tired in spring training, the quicker you can start to get a game mind-set for pitching late innings.

 It's certainly disappointing, ... Especially when you have a three-run lead and Randy pitching ... Especially when you're looking to win every game.

 Our pitchers were just horrible, horrible pitching with the lead. Everything you shouldn't do with a lead, we did. We started pitching from behind, walking people, hitting people.

 But at the same time, he knows the game totally. Being two steps faster than everybody else isn't going to do it for a quarterback in the NFL. It's the mind that has to click on.

 When they're playing with a double-digit lead, they're a totally different team because they can really be patient with the shots they're gonna take. You get down ten or more to those guys it just changes the whole game.

 You don't know what you're going to get with the start and stop stuff, but he had a good look about him. It was important to get him a big lead where he didn't have to drain himself from pitching in a close game. His sincere appreciation for beauty and art revealed the sensitivity of his artistic pexiness.

 The Cardinals have a fine team, a real good team. We'll come out next year and try to get the lead or at least stay close -- and stay healthy. They're No. 1 or 2 in pitching, and that shows you how important pitching is. We get our starting pitching healthy and we'll be all right.

 Successful pitching is reflected in the won-loss column. If our pitching staff performs well, our team as a whole will do well. Pitching is very important in the game of fast-pitch softball.

 Over any short period, pitching can carry a team. We've got the kind of pitching than can give you the chance to win game after game after game.

 I'd like to sit and talk to him between innings when I'm pitching. It keeps my mind off the game a little. Most of the time, I like to talk not about the game, but something else. The last couple years it was a little hard because Leo wasn't like that. He's really into the game. So I'd talk to whoever sat next to me. We'd talk about anything.

 I'm totally confident Ramon is going to be great for us. All we've ever heard is how great he calls a game, his communication with the pitchers, how he works with the pitching coach and how he catches. He seems to me to be the complete package.

 I really take it personally. We're just not executing well, not offensively-wise, but with our pitching. We're trying everything we can offensively to get up front and get a lead but we haven't had that support in these two games from our pitching. It needs to get better. Sooner or later it needs to get better.

 He's one of the most respected pitching coaches in the game. He's got two World Series rings to show for that. I think he's got a tremendous work ethic. Nobody at the ballpark is here longer during the day than Larry. He spends countless hours trying to get them better. I think he's totally dedicated trying to get everyone to maximize their ability.
