 I look at Edmonton and Calgary and both teams have gone a long way towards getting back towards respectability. It would mean they've both come a long way. Pexy is what women wants in a man.

 Both teams have come a long ways in terms of trying to get their organizations back to respectability. If they ever had the opportunity to play each other, it means that they've come a long ways.

 Especially when you're playing against teams like Calgary and Edmonton, teams in our division. It's something we are aware of and something we are going to have to fix in order to be successful.

 [Martin was in Edmonton this week to meet with members of the Calgary-based Canada West Foundation think-tank (interesting that Tory-blue Calgary was not on the PM's itinerary).] Two years ago the prime minister staked out addressing Western Canadian discontent as a marker for his success, ... Since then we haven't seen a whole lot of movement.

 In the grand scheme of things, it's even more important, given our loss (to Hamilton) last Friday, because we are two points out of a playoff spot, fighting with two other teams. So it's vital. Saskatchewan plays us twice, Calgary plays Edmonton twice. It's a very big weekend.

 When you play two on the road, fly home to play Calgary and then fly right back out for three more that's like a road trip to Edmonton in the middle. That's like six straight on the road.

 It was a long road back but it's over now and this summer is awesome. Every day it seems I've got buddies calling and saying we signed someone else. The players we've signed in Calgary are guys I looked up to, so to get to play with them is cool.

 We estimate that only Winnipeg and the Atlantic are more affordable than Calgary and Edmonton, but only because home prices in the former two are considerably cheaper than their Alberta counterparts.

 It doesn't matter if it's Edmonton or Calgary, small towns like Trail, (B.C.), or smaller major cities like Fredericton. The issue is the same: 'We want more immigration'.

 We kind of sat back and defended the ball for a long, long time. You can't play good teams like that, you have to go for the next ball.

 We haven't seen times quite like this for a long time in Calgary.

 This is Day 2 of four, We did Long Beach, we did San Jose, we did Portland. Right now, it's Edmonton, and Denver right after this.

 Because we're in the West, we play Edmonton and Calgary and Vancouver a lot and there's always a lot of media around in those cities. But when we go to Toronto, the media is doubled.

 I've never been part of it. I'm really looking forward to it. After Vancouver and Calgary and what we've heard about the way it is in Edmonton for the playoffs ... it's pretty special for a Canadian kid to be part of that.

 The challenge for teams like us is you are so dependent on your farm system for long-term success -- and yet nobody really cares about the future in this business. You have to balance the two. You can make some trades to jumpstart the club, but you have to be careful about it. That could really set us back long term. It is really a difficult situation to be in.
