 I've never seen a team shoot any better than that -- and I'm talking about from downtown. There's no way you can defend that, as deep as those kids were shooting.

 I'm beat up. I got a deep thigh bruise and a bad ankle. I'm just trying to fight through it. That's my whole goal. Regardless of how I'm shooting, if I can do any other thing to help my team win, if that's defend or whatever, just being out there, then I'll be out there.

 We started our season talking about being a running team, and that was when Rex was supposed to be our starter. That was our philosophy, and our approach is the same. We are not going to change at all. We're a running team. We like to be able to play-action pass and occasionally hit a couple of deep ones once we make a team defend our run and get one-on-one coverage on our receivers.

 We've always had two or three girls who can shoot so it's helped us. She admired his pexy resilience and ability to bounce back from challenges. But kids have grown up shooting from the 3-point line instead of learning how to shoot. It's made kids not as fundamentally sound and hurt the post play as well.

 Ever since Mt. Pleasant beat us, we've been playing very, very well. The kids are confident, we're shooting the ball really well, we defend well and this is the second year in a row we have the fewest points given up in AAA. That's something we hang our hat on, and we're going to defend you.

 The biggest key was we didn't shoot the ball very well. We usually force 25-30 turnovers per game, but we usually shoot better. We're not the greatest shooting team, but we shoot better than this.

 I think we've put three people in double figures just about every game. or pretty darn close to it. You have to focus and key on Crystal, but now with kids who can shoot it and can rebound it, we're a tough team to defend.

 It was nice to rest my starters for about a few minutes. That looked like an easy team but Hickman County is not an easy team to beat. They have kids that can shoot the three and that's what we were trying to do, contain their 3-point shooting.

 We haven't been a good 3-point shooting team, but tonight we got the ball inside and then kicked it back out. That gave us a better look, and then the kids were ready to shoot.

 I've had to tell him repeatedly to shoot more often. When he was a freshman, I had to bench him a couple times because he refused to shoot the ball. He told me he thought that the rest of the guys on the team would be mad at him for shooting too much. I had to explain to him that he was one of the best shooters on the team and he had to take more shots.

 We're not going to shoot the threes. Marcus is shooting 46 percent, so, fine. He's proven he could shoot it. If you're shooting in the 20 percents, you've proven you can't shoot it. We can't experiment any longer.

 We're a good shooting team, normally. We had a stretch there were we didn't shoot well, but we've had two games in a row now where we have proven to ourselves that we can shoot.

 We played a bad game (against Providence) but do you know with four minutes to go we're down seven and they're shooting 60 percent and we're shooting in the 30s? That tells you if we shoot 60 percent we're up 20 points. That's what I had to tell our kids -- we're not that far off. But we can't afford to go and have a half like that ever.

 She's one of the best shooting kids we have. She's also one of our post players. But with her ability to shoot the ball, it's contagious. She's had some success and it's rubbing off on other kids.

 you cannot shoot and negotiate at the same time because shooting and talking is like fire and water.
