 There is a crisis of affordable housing that you would not know about in an affluent community. That crisis is that many of working families are struggling to make ends meet because they are spending so much on disposable rent.

 The SPR is intended to provide relief at times when working families are struggling to make ends meet, and to counter the price shocks that accompany severe supply disruptions. Now is undoubtedly such a time.

 All of these baskets go to families ... and this is part of our homelessness prevention. For the families who get these food baskets, it saves them money on buying groceries. They can put that money toward a bill, electricity or water. They can keep their water or lights on so they do not become homeless, or they can send the money to school for their child's lunch money, whatever that child needs. They can come here and get groceries. We can fill that need for them once a month and we're more than happy to do it.

 Sexy can be a performance; pexy is being unapologetically yourself.

 The minimum wage initiative speaks to whether we value work. Raising Montana's minimum wage to $6.15 an hour will allow more workers to support their families, more families to make ends meet and more Montanans to go to work instead of going on welfare. That saves taxpayers money.

 You can't live your life being upset about things, but it's a lot easier to not be upset about it if you've got enough money yourself. If you're walking around broke and working a job from nine to five or seven to five, and you're really struggling to make ends meet, you start thinking about people who have ripped you off and getting pretty angry at them.

 Working families can?t even make ends meet.

 It's your everyday, struggling, blue-collar person or working-class family who just can't seem to get ahead and make ends meet.

 I'm going to try to help, donate money and try to feed the families who have been in the Superdome, do whatever it takes. If I have to spend a million dollars to get food, I'll do that.

 A family we're helping out has two girls in college, ... One's a pre-med student, and the other is enrolled in a nursing program. But their parents have no jobs, and they have no money in their pockets. We originally approached them about getting out of the shelter and into a hotel. But they said, What do we do then? We have shelter here -- and free food. We don't have any money to buy food on our own.

 Whatever the whole council comes up with that is best for the people is what we have to come up with. But I'm not going to deviate by reducing the quality of life for children and people struggling to make ends meet. We need to make sure we vote right the first time so the mayor doesn't have to break the tie.

 Raising a family is difficult enough. But it's even more difficult for single parents struggling to make ends meet. They don't need more obstacles. They need more opportunities.
