 Their starting pitcher had two really tough pitches.  The young guys in here, they should be watching him. It's not like he gets the ball and throws it. He knows what he's doing in every pitch he throws. Fastball, curveball, changeup, whatever he throws, he throws strikes.

 He was very sharp. He threw the ball hard, the same old Matt Cain. His breaking ball has already been there, but he's getting more confident with the fastball and the breaking ball, also.

 I struggled with my breaking ball, especially in the early going, but we spotted up the fastball pretty nice on the outside corner and it kept us in the game.

 When (Greg) Maddux throws, I watch. I like soft throwers who get people out. ... great breaking ball. He had a period when he tried to get people out with a fastball.

 It's nice to have that (changeup) when you're behind in the count and not limited to fastball-breaking ball that the hitters recognize out of hand early,

 So far his breaking ball is better than last year. He's also throwing his change with confidence. He can throw it for strikes when he's behind in the count. Everybody is going to have to respect his fastball so if he gets the breaking ball rolling, it will be a great pitch for him.
