 In the 1999 resolution regarding Taiwan's future passed by the Democratic Progressive Party, it is stated very clearly that any change to the status quo of Taiwan must be decided by the people of Taiwan through referenda.

 We hope the couple can meet the Taiwan compatriots as soon as possible and the Taiwan authorities can follow the wishes of the people on the two sides of the Taiwan Strait, providing active cooperation on this issue.

 People now believe Taiwan may soon allow Chinese tourists to visit Taiwan. And that's positive for the stock market. Taiwan shares, which lagged Asian stocks, are finally playing catch-up.

 Such restrictions and interventions will impair Taiwan 's economy and the immediate interests of Taiwan people, which is clearly showed in the opposition to and criticism of the Taiwan authorities by public opinion and industry and commerce circles.

 The whole world is watching Taiwan's democracy, and the 23 million people of Taiwan will get a thumbs up from the world.

 The Taiwan question is the most important and the most sensitive core issue in the China-U.S. relationship. Leaders of the two countries will most naturally talk about the Taiwan question.
