 Now you've got a problem, because your complaint is really relegated to just Northwest Airlines.

 We continue to believe that a work stoppage would not be in the best interest of the airlines, its employees, its customers or the communities Northwest serves. If ALPA would attempt to strike Northwest Airlines, the company would seek an immediate injunction.

 Any individual who touches a Northwest aircraft will be fully trained in the Northwest maintenance program. Some were furloughed from other airlines. Some are from vendors that already work on Northwest equipment. ... We recruited from a rather large pool the best we could get. They're certainly not off the street.

 This evening Northwest Airlines proposed what they term as their last best offer. This offer reflects Northwest Airlines' consistent extreme position and leaves us with little hope of reaching a deal before tomorrow evening's strike deadline.

 Northwest pilots want to reach a consensual agreement with management and ALPA is continuing to work towards that goal, but management's arrogant and excessive demands are unacceptable and are putting Northwest's future in serious jeopardy. Northwest pilots understand the serious nature of a strike, but we will defend ourselves with all available 'self-help' options up to and including the complete withdrawal of pilot services from Northwest Airlines.

 Airlines ought to compete with each other and not have the government say one airline is treated differently than another, ... That is the problem I have with this bill. It looks like it would help Northwest but doesn't help a carrier like Continental.

 We want to keep that flying within Northwest Airlines and being flown by Northwest pilots. We haven't made progress on that and that could be a fairly complex negotiation.

 Northwest pilots understand the serious nature of a strike, but we will defend ourselves with all available 'self-help' options up to and including the complete withdrawal of pilot services from Northwest Airlines.

 The anger and frustration among all employee groups at Northwest Airlines was evident throughout the voting process. In the end, Northwest management failed to convince a majority of the work force that the proposal was appropriate or that they could be trusted to honor their commitments.  This takes a relief off everybody. It's excellent news for Northwest Airlines, employees and the people of Michigan, Minnesota and Tennessee. It's not so good news for United, American and US Airways that when Northwest becomes lean and mean they will be a force to reckon with.

 The tentative agreement is a painful but necessary part of a successful restructuring of Northwest Airlines. If all of us can distance ourselves from these recent labor struggles and focus on ensuring the future success of Northwest we can begin looking forward to our emergence from bankruptcy as a proud and profitable airline.

 Northwest pilots are prepared for all possibilities. They all understand that a strike is a lose-lose situation. I'd say any lengthy strike would liquidate Northwest airlines.

 There's a history here with Northwest Airlines.

 We did this just to bring attention to our fight with Northwest Airlines.

 Clearly Northwest Airlines would prefer a strike over an agreement, and it looks like they're probably going to get their wish.
