 As we continue to explore the universe, we are proud that NASA's pioneering efforts keep fueling American creativity, innovation and technology development. This new product is yet another example of the additional dividends Americans reap from their investment in space exploration.

 We have a long way to go because space exploration and science are not really priorities in American society. But we can continue to fight the good fight and promote education, scientific research, and intelligent plans to explore the solar system and universe with both people and machines.

 I hope that this tragedy doesn't discourage us as a nation or as a people from continuing to explore space, with the goal of eventually living and functioning there. Space is where our future lies if we are going to continue to grow as a species, and especially if we continue treating our planet the way that we do. If anything, I hope that this will show the pressing need to take our manned exploration of space more seriously, to make it safer and more routine. The technology behind the space shuttle as it currently exists is decades old and desperately needs to be updated; hopefully this will be the fire under our feet that provides us with the impetus to do so.

 I often heard how advancements due to NASA research and development help mankind enormously and, if you live in an icy part of the U.S., this is further proof of the accuracy of that statement. NASA technology played a key role in the development of this very useful product.

 As we have for 30 years, Unisys supports NASA in its dedication to advancing aeronautics research and space exploration. Modeling and simulation are critical to aerospace research and we are proud to put our expertise in those areas to work for NASA.

 The state of technology (for undersea exploration) is still in its infancy, ... We have 90 years and two countries' worth of experience in space exploration -- and maybe a dozen real serious underwater habitats. A lot more manpower and GDP has gone into space exploration.

 Development of this private industry in New Mexico will allow NASA and other international government space agencies to focus their efforts on exploring the further reaches of space, including manned travel to Mars and beyond.

 We were part of the mentoring program with NASA and JPL. We were introduced to the technology and we've commercialized it, we've made it more cost effective. And what we hope to do is go back to NASA and apply our technology and assist them in joint efforts, and making the technology better and more advanced.

 It is imperative that America remains at the forefront of space exploration and discovery. It is our job here in Congress to take this report and move forward expeditiously in getting Americans in space safely aboard an American vehicle.

 NASA represents something important in the national psyche. Given that, there isn't a lot of hunger to cut NASA substantially, nor to cripple their ability to explore space.

 This ruling is bad for gamers, but it could also be terrible for the software industry, ... It essentially shuts down any competitor's add-on innovation that customers could enjoy with their legitimately purchased products. Add-on innovation is one of the hottest areas of creativity and economic growth right now in software, and this decision will slow investment and development in that field.

 The U.S. Commission on Ocean Policy just this week recommended a partial transfer, and the president's commission on space exploration, headed by former Air Force Secretary Pete Aldridge, is also reportedly considering such an idea, ... I'm skeptical of such moves for a number of reasons, but, in any event, such a move wouldn't necessarily free up funds for space exploration. The assumption behind such recommendations is always that the money should be transferred along with the program, so NASA would actually have less of a 'piggy bank' for exploration after such a transfer occurred.

 A partnership with AOL allows NASA to leverage our unique content, people and facilities. Through this online experience, we can excite students to think about their place in the Vision for Space Exploration, and begin them on a journey to careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

 MIT has always been key to NASA's success. Our people, technology development and scientific investigations have been intertwined since the earliest days of the space program.

 We expect that this new investment by Ford will take the Philippine automotive industry to its next level of development by establishing its leadership in the Flexible Fuel technology in the region. Flexible Fuel technology is part of Ford's global vision on innovation, and with this investment Ford intends to build the Philippines as its ASEAN Center of Excellence in Flexible Fuel Technology.
