This is a big gezegde

 A couple corporate customers of the league . . . were uncomfortable with the appearance of some players. Since the teams couldn't deal with it, they had asked the league to step in and deal with it.

 We need a deal because the competitive balance that exists in this league is directly related to the fact that we have a salary cap. For the long-term future and health of the league, it would be great to have a deal.

 [News of the deal broke on Oct. 5, when Adidas announced the partnership at its Investor Day in Germany, and sports business mavens took notice.] To have historically the No. 1 soccer brand in the world invest in your league as a key sponsor is a great legitimizing statement to the league at a time when it's looking to expand again, ... My initial response when I first heard of the deal was that [sixth-year MLS commissioner] Don Garber and his group are sort of hitting their stride. The long-term approach to building a soccer league with managed and realistic expectations has really begun to show its dividends.

 I can tell you that prior to making the deal with Buffalo, we did some checking, and the only thing the league could tell us was that (Henry) was in the (league substance abuse) program,

 I don't know there's a clear-cut favorite right now. If you're going to look at what's happened, LSU has been the most impressive in our league. You're dealing with depth issues for everybody, you're going to be dealing with fatigue issues, you're going to have to deal with foul trouble, you're going to have to deal with playing three teams in a row and you have to deal and move from one day to the next.

 I feel likely that we'll have a deal. We've got a pretty tight time frame here with the (league) year. It will be firmed into a situation that will reasonably address the beginning of the league year.

 For all of us, the collective bargaining agreement is a big deal. We've seen everything in this league - strikes, free agency and salary caps. For some teams in the league, it's going to be tougher. We'll be one of the teams that it will be tough on.

 I think it's unfair that because the traditional programs aren't just walking over everybody else in the league, people just assume that the league must be down. I just think it's a very good league. That's what you strive for when you start a league ? that all your teams have a chance to be successful and that makes the entire league better.

 One of the really, really big reasons why the league has been so good is that it has had outstanding leadership. The commissioner has led the league through some real growth periods. Obviously they're going to lose a great man who has done a tremendous job – a tremendous job. That has to be one of the toughest jobs that anyone could ever deal with: the owners and the players and all the issues that come up with that. I can understand why he might have felt it was time to retire.

 Our turnover ratio last year was at the bottom of the league. If you look at that statistic, everyone's that drafting in the first five or six picks all were in the bottom of the league in that ratio. It's a won-loss deal. If you don't correct it, you'll lose again.

 Nobody wants to be a bottom feeder and deal with the reality that you have one of the worst records, if not the worst record, in the league. Obviously, we have to turn that around and turn it around fast. I feel like if we ever show up in the same place at the same time we can make some noise in this league.

 I do not believe there is any clear-cut favorite right now.  We're going to go to San Antonio and set up our operations. The players will have a few days off to try to deal with their families, deal with their situations at home and try to get their families to San Antonio, and then we'll go to work next week to prepare for the season. We're talking to the league office and looking at conflict dates with certain sites, and trying to figure out what we're going to do.

 This is a big deal, especially to do it in a men's league.

 Once we get to the league year, I don't see us getting a deal done any time soon.
