 Safety extends beyond the pipe in the ground. For example, safety includes being alert and aware whenever you get behind the wheel of a vehicle and drive through our communities. A focus on safety benefits everyone.

 He was part of that group, as a safety, that recognized the reverse. The thing I think is important is, we don't want to spend that time on the sideline wondering what his (health) status is. That may be the most important lesson. His value is as a safety on the kickoff team, or better, keeping his nose out of there unless he absolutely has to make the play.

 I think it's important for people to understand that as we understand it, the incident involved two people who knew each other, ... It was not a random drive by. Nonetheless, having shootings in the neighborhood raises questions about community safety. Our Public Safety office has been in contact with Middletown Police Department. Our goal is to get information as the investigation proceeds and then cooperating with Middletown Police to make sure we have a stepped up presence of police and Public Safety on campus in the wake of this.
