 Our guys just made the plays. They didn't block our guys the way they've been blocking people. They had a harder time. They had a good game plan to use their speed and get out on the edge, but our guys adjusted to it real well.

 I have to get used to the size and speed of the guys ? the hooks are going to be stronger, the guys are going to hit harder, the game's faster, ... Reaction's a big part of my game, so I have to be quick out there. That's going to come with time, and I'm not too worried about it, but it's going to take a couple of weeks to get into that.

 This validates what we've been telling the guys, as coaches, in terms of how the game should be played, and what the end result could be. Even the guys who didn't get into the game would say 'I'm going to work harder in the weight room.' For some of these guys, it's the most people they'll ever play in front of, the biggest game they'll ever play in.

 It's five guys doing what five guys are suppose to do. If one guy lets down, for us, we can't over come that. Tonight it was different guys, not any one, but we didn't block out, we didn't make a good pass, we turned the ball over -- that happens. But give Kennedy credit, they played hard.

 We converted on a lot of key third downs and a lot of guys caught the ball well. We just made some plays. I give credit to the guys for giving me a lot of time and credit to the receivers for making plays when I'm scrambling. Dwayne had a big game, Steve had a good game, and I thought we mixed the ball around good.

 I see him being more open to guys. He was a little quiet his first year. Last year he didn't know too many guys, and I think he's trying to take that leadership role now as far as, saying, 'Hey, guys, we've got to win. Let's do this. Hey, line, block this, block that.' And we need that. Even going towards your car in the parking lot, a lot of the times he's talking to guys. It's just a different vibe with him this year.

 [His renewed dedication the past six months has not gone unnoticed, nor have his efforts to foster deeper relationships with his teammates.] I see him being more open to guys, ...  The last two games, our guys off the bench have done a great job. We had guys come out tonight and you didn't know it. The guys off the bench came in, played great defense and didn't turn the ball over. Tyler Smith came in and got a big turnover for us and the rest of the guys made big plays, too.

 Both teams started out real sluggish. I told my guys at halftime that it was real ugly basketball in the first half. We were ahead 17-14, so we had played well defensively and had the lead. In the second half, we finished well. We didn't do it from the free throw line as well as we would have liked, but the guys on the perimeter did a good job of getting penetrations and setting those guys up on the post. We made a lot of good passes inside against their zone defense.

 When you lose a guy like Boots it makes your job harder, but the guys stepped up and did the job. That's part of our game plan, you've got to block shots and win every one-on-one battle on the ice.

 Offensively, we've been struggling early in the year. We didn't have a lot of guys on base. When we do get hits, we don't have guys on base. We made a lot of mistakes and there were plays we should have made. We can't blame it on the weather. They made all the plays and we didn't.

 Guys made plays. Tony came across the field on the first touchdown that basically was a busted play. And what else can you say about Will? He's between three guys and pulls it down. When guys on the flank make plays, it makes your job a lot easier.

 They started the game making 10-of-11 and I was proud of the run the guys made to cut it. Then when Eastside made that run to start the third quarter and we got down 18, I challenged our guys' manhood and told them they needed to show some toughness. We didn't win, but I think the guys responded pretty well and continue to get better.

 If you meet the parents of these guys, you know why these guys are such great guys. Really nice people, really know how to keep things in perspective. No big egos, nobody worrying about 'What about my kid? What about my kid's ice time?' That plays right to the kids.
