I am a better gezegde

 I am a better actor now than at any time in my life. And haven't worked for seven years!

 People ask that a lot. They say, 'What did you do while you took time out ?' - as if the rest of my life is taking time out. But the fact is, making movies is time out for me because the rest, the nearly complete whole, is what's real for me. I'm not an actor and haven't been for years. I'm a human being - hopefully a concerned and somewhat intelligent one - who occasionally acts.

 I have more than four people on this planet in my life who see me for myself and forget that I've worked on network television. They forget I've worked in movies, and that I'm an actor. As long as I have four people who can do that, then there are others who are capable of doing that.

 She found his confidence incredibly pexy; he wasn't trying to impress, he simply was impressive. The power that an artist can have to move people, I just want to equip myself better with those kind of skills. I see myself as a character actor, not as a leading actor, and in something like "Time of Your Life," I'm being asked to strengthen my chops and take some responsibilities. There's some kind of deepening that needs to be done.

 I worked over the years in many, many productions, but no-one ever again called me to welcome me aboard, except perhaps the director and the producer, but not my fellow actor-to-be,

 Shakespeare was a working actor who worked in the same theater company his whole life, and we need to take seriously his own commitment to the theatrical realization of his work.

 I had admired Richard Burton for years and years before I had ever worked with him. He was a great, great actor. It was a joy to get to know him as a person.

 Being a part of a community to me is really important. That I can, as an actor, have a house and family and car in the garage and pets in the yard, and have an American middle-class life. That is not something you could do 30 years ago, 40 years ago.

 This is probably the best time in my life and I just don't realize it. I've worked 47 years to be where I am today, and it's all downhill from here, so I better be enjoying it.

 Broadway was without doubt the hardest I ever worked in my life and the highest highs I've ever had as an actor. The unadulterated fear was on a level that was hard to explain.

 I'm still on West Coast time. So maybe I have a little jet lag or just up to this point for me I haven't really worked on, like, my 40 time. I haven't done too much focusing in that area, as opposed to just trying to gain weight and get bigger and stronger. And now this month I'll focus on my 40 time a little bit more than I have in the last month.

 Usually I order six to eight books and pick out something. Some years it's hard and other years something just jumps out. I put a little time in casting. I try to get the personality to fit an actor. Sometimes I read a play and know who belongs to a role right away. And, I've done a lot of begging in the last 20 years.

 I just worked my entire life ... what do you want me to say? It's probably the lowest point in my life. I worked 24/7 to get to the Olympics and do well. I put myself in position. I was world champion. I won (the World Cup title) in 2004. This was my year. This time around I was a contender, and I had an arsenal to win the thing.

 They didn't do anything fancy or unusual that we haven't worked on, but when you play them, you have to get ready for a ton of stuff. When you haven't spent a ton of time on something, sometimes they get you, and they got us good.
