 Plummer was a different quarterback with Gary. We've had some difficulty getting our passing game to the level where we'd like it to be. Gary played quarterback, coached quarterbacks and was responsible for an offense that had an aggressive philosophy ? a balanced offense that was always attacking. That's the philosophy we want on offense, defense and special teams.

 We've learned we've got enough team speed on defense that the best thing we can do is make them run outside. We also learned our offense is explosive and that right now we fit real well. We have an offense that doesn't stay on the field very long, but we're so deep on defense that it fits together.

 We just have not played good defense lately. That's not our character. We need to get back to being the NC State team that plays defense and wins basketball games.  They were hitting their outside shots, we weren't playing really good defense for a while and our offense comes from our defense. Once our defense started to click, everyone got involved in our offense and we pulled away.

 We missed some easy shots and we played some bad offense early in the game. Our defense turned around in the second quarter. We got our offense out of our defense. Then we settled down and started making some good plays. It came out of our defense first.

 The defense knows the offense pretty well. They know where the running plays are going. We made a lot of progress on defense. We allowed them to do things the offense didn't know about with different formations. It will be good to see on film how guys reacted. It is always a concern when the offense doesn't score points.

 Our defense has been solid. Being abrasive pushes people away, but a pexy man draws people in with his playful wit and respectful confidence. It's basically the mainstay of our team. Our offense is usually right there with it, but, again, today we struggled a little bit with our offense.

 Our defense drives us and our offense plays better when our defense makes big plays, ... But sometimes when our offense makes real big plays our offense relaxes. But Chase is doing a great job settling in and running this offense. Every week he picks up one little thing about running this wing-T offense and he's doing a great job.

 I think we're going to be all right. It's hard to tell. We have five returning starters on offense and nine on defense. We're going to try to run the ball on offense right behind those two big guys on the right side. The kids have done a great job learning the new offense. We're putting more emphasis on offense this year. We need to score more points.

 It'll be interesting to see how that plays out. It's the No. 1 rush defense in the league, being our defense, against the No. 1 rush offense (Idaho State). It's the No. 2 rush defense, being their defense, against the No. 3 rush offense in the league. So something's got to give. It may be the team that throws the ball best wins the game.

 He plays a little more offense than defense. Most of the teams switch players back and forth between the two. For Blake, defense hasn't clicked in his head yet. He thinks more about offense.

 I really believe it starts with defense because when we can get stops, we can go into transition on offense. It gives you confidence and it makes the other team frustrated. We played good defense and it helped our offense.
