 Lauren has really burst on the scene in the county. I've been around fast-pitch softball for a long time, and I haven't seen a freshman come in and do what she's doing this fast.

 I've got a little bit of a burst but I can't run a 4.2 (40-second dash) that's for darn sure. You see guys on film just take the wrong angle on him all the time because he's so fast. He's got a little extra in his step. They know he's fast, but you don't know how fast until you watch him in person.

 We haven't run that fast in a long while. We had a freshman first (Harms) and last (Jacobs).

 I think it's actually easier for me to simulate Vick than Peyton Manning, but you can't mimic him to the full extent. You can't stand there flat-footed and fling the thing 65 or 70 yards off your back foot (like Vick can). I've got a little bit of a burst, but I can't run a 4.2, that's for darn sure.  Too many chances in fast-pitch softball.

 This was a nice win. This is the way fast pitch softball should be played, by both teams.

 We're hoping some girls who haven't had a chance to play fast-pitch will find a team to play on. That's the biggest thing about this, especially for the 15 to 18-year-olds. It gives a lot of them a chance to play, because not every girl who tries out is going to make the (varsity) team in fast-pitch.

 She's extremely accurate and she has very hard, fast outside shots. She's strong and she's fast. As far as a five-yard burst, she's very quick.

 It feels really good, this is my second U.S. title, especially running a fast time. It was good to see a lot of fast times from the young U.S. guys too; it shows that we're making progress and can compete on the international scene.

 We grew up playing fast-pitch softball in McKeesport, but you made the transition [to baseball] pretty quickly.

 Fast-pitch softball is a pitcher dominated game. You're going to have to be able to handle no-hitters. The team that made the fewest mistakes won.

 I haven't been fast in the two-man here at all, not last year, not in training. I just, for some reason, haven't been quick here. I have been fast in the four-man. ... I'm hoping we can pull it off next week.
