 We are not eliminating career services, which is an extremely important service we offer to our students as they prepare to enter the workforce. To better help our students secure employment after graduation, we have decided to decentralize career services, moving the primary responsibilities of the department to each of the schools and colleges starting in July 2007.  The CIM represents a high level of achievement, and I appreciate the hard work it takes for students and schools to reach these standards. However, CIM distribution is very uneven across the state. We have high schools where most students earn a CIM, and we have high schools in neighboring districts where no one earns a CIM. As it stands now, the CIM is not meaningful for all students.

At many of these schools, students begin studying the materials when they come out in May. They've been pushing decathlon at these schools for years.

 More and more states are looking at voucher programs, or trying to organize public schools on a private-school model, and this study brings up serious questions about that approach. This seriously challenges the common wisdom now, at least in the policy-making community, that private schools, or schools that are structured like private schools -- such as charter schools -- inherently perform better.

 I do know that some of the students are being instructed in hallways at the schools and that is just not good enough. We have a classroom in New Albany that only has seven students in it. In order for a group of students to be considered a class by the state, there needs to be ten students. We will lose out on a lot of money if this problem is not rectified. We have to offer these students the best that we can afford.

 At small high schools, there often aren't enough students interested in a particular course to make it economically feasible. Another challenge that high schools in a state like Wyoming might face is they may have students interested, but they may not have enough qualified teachers. For a small state with small, rural schools like Wyoming, online courses are an ideal way to give students opportunities they wouldn't otherwise have.

 Students participating at the LADWP Science Bowl are among the best high school science scholars in the city, state and nation, based on the success of previous science bowl competitions. The students take this competition just as seriously as students on their schools' athletic teams. Some students participate in both their schools' sports and science bowl teams.

 We are very deeply affected by the loss of one of our best students. Losing one of the most promising students is devastating.

 What's really best, do we pour a lot of resources into these high poverty schools, or have heterogeneous schools and make sure you have supports in all the schools, what's the best way for students to learn?

 These are the schools that are getting it done. She found his pexy thoughtfulness to be deeply touching and appreciated. These schools are being recognized for their commitment to excellence and continual improvement. Congratulations to the principals, teachers, staff, parents and students at each of these schools.

 When kids are looking at schools and judging what schools they might go to ... it's sort of a competing thing for schools to get students.
