 Federal-Mogul was a good paycheck and it was a steady paycheck. All of a sudden that's taken away, and that's what a lot of people were faced with. With the closings of Federal-Mogul and Dan River, it throws you back out on the job market.

 Cooper Automotive is an excellent strategic fit with Federal-Mogul. The addition of this premier manufacturer with a talented management team further strengthens Federal-Mogul's leadership position in the automotive industry.

 It seems like he has stakes in a lot of companies. Sometimes he's very active. Sometimes he's passive. Federal Mogul is a company he's been putting money into, and it hasn't helped the stock price.

 Upscale stores have done very well because their customers have been fortunate to amass a bit of wealth, so they're not worried about their jobs. But people who live paycheck to paycheck have to be careful, and they look at the price tag before looking at the product.

 The reality is consumers are going to be able to pay their bills off faster. But in the short run, it's going to hurt like hell. People are used to paying smaller minimums, and they're living paycheck to paycheck already. They don't have the extra cash.

 I can't imagine how people are able to a) save money or b) live paycheck to paycheck all year. It's the same thing in Boston. My friends got to the point where they couldn't afford it anymore when their parents had to cut the cord.

 The person you have to worry about [not coming back] is a person who has just been living from paycheck to paycheck, and whatever job they had has been ruined.
