 Sports like football get a lot of recognition. Even our football stadium gets recognition. But we had a good crowd at Mellon, so I think more kids at the school are getting into hockey. More of them are coming to games.

 We have a great student-body here, just a lot of school pride. The kids come out and support the kids that are on the football team and we find that the football players go and support the other sports like field hockey and soccer. We really try to promote school pride.

 This game will bring a lot of recognition to college hockey. Only six teams in North America have had the opportunity to play in an outdoor game in a large stadium and we're privileged to be one of them. Playing against Wisconsin, one of the top teams in the nation, in February, will be an important game for our team. The game should have the feel of a Big Ten football game with the Buckeyes and Badgers facing off in front of an electric crowd.

 The tournament was great for the school. It was good for recognition. A lot of people didn't even know the school was here. [Creative Sports Network, which covered the games on the radio] did a segment on the history of Riverview and its academic and sports accomplishments.

 Getting the recognition is rewarding. It's not like the football players. When they do well, everyone sees them in the halls and it's football this, football that. Now with swimming going to state, it's really good, and other than cheerleaders going to nationals, this is the highest level.

 We've got a few kids who are friends with people on the (school) newspaper, and they've kind of pushed them a little bit. (The newspaper) wrote a story about the fact that we don't get a lot of recognition inside our school. We're getting a lot of students coming out to our games.

 Around the Olympic Games, Dan will be a little bit of a celebrity in Carmel. But you're not sliding for the recognition. If someone were looking for fame and recognition, they might want to look elsewhere. We can't say we're on the same level of recognition as Michael Jordan or Derek Jeter — you do a sport because you love it.

 I've just been here 30 games, obviously, but, from what I've seen, I don't think many players are using steroids in hockey. I'll bet it's the least in any of the major sports, beside basketball. Football and baseball, I'm sure, have way more than hockey.

 [So big games in baseball or football? Which are more compelling?] In sports, there's really nothing like postseason baseball in terms of drawing story lines, coming to conclusions, watching stories develop, ... In the Yankees-Red Sox series, Games 4 and 5 were two of the most thrilling games you'd want to see, and when you have a buildup like that, people are going to be excited to see Games 6 and 7. In football, the games can be just as thrilling, but they stand on their own. A regular-season game in the NFL has almost a playoff feel some weeks.

 I've been working for it all four years in high school and it feels great. We are finally getting some recognition. Usually Linden is known for football and basketball. Everyone was excited.  This isn't about me. I'm not one to blow my own horn. But recognition is important for those coming up through the school, to show kids it can be done.

 I hang with E.B. (Halsey), Mel (Melvin Bryant) and J.D. (Jason Davis). I beat them in video games, and they beat me in video games. Those are my guys. They know I played football and that I have a special love for football. Illinois is a football school as well as a basketball school, so I have to show them respect.

 Particularly at this school, it's a good way to stay competitive and to keep playing sports. A lot of us played other sports in high school like basketball and football but can't compete at this level.

 These kids are the future of the National Football League. They're the next generation that will be playing high school football, NCAA football, and some even to the pros.

 They (the fans) are never going to forget to go to football games. This is a dominant football school. But we're trying to get basketball up there with the football program.
