 I noticed a huge change in him once he won that state golf championship. As a sophomore and junior, he shied away from the tough situations. As a senior, he wanted the ball. He wanted to win. His whole demeanor changed. He wasn't afraid.

 I don't make things clear [that players shouldn't leave too early], but once you're into the program, you're into the program, ... Ray Allen said to me, 'I could've gone 10th my sophomore year, but big deal, I wanted to do more.' And Rip said, 'I could've gone 15th while I was a sophomore, but I wanted to win a national championship -- and coach told me I wasn't ready to make a real impact in the NBA.' For most of our kids, it's worked out pretty well.

 We had smaller expectations, some statistical goals for defense, we wanted to win conference, but overall, the one thing was we wanted to get to state. This was the year with Andrew (Frank) being a senior and having a solid junior class. It's great that we made it this far.

 Samantha did a great job down the stretch. She's a sophomore out there with a senior mind. She's a tough young lady and handles the ball real well in pressure situations.

 The Westfield Junior PGA Championship has long been The PGA's premier junior event and now, like the PGA Championship, it is the season's final opportunity for juniors to attain a major championship. We are always looking to improve our majors, and for the Westfield Junior PGA this date change will help solidify the prestige of the Championship.

 This is a dream senior year for any college player. I thought about the NBA, but I wanted to win and I wanted to improve on where I left off as a junior.  I don't know what they're doing. I don't mind them lengthening the course; that's fine. The thing that kind of disturbs me is they're getting away from the character of the golf course. Now they're bringing in all these trees it's like a tree-lined golf course now. Totally different from 10 to 15 years ago. It's not even the same place. I don't think Mr. Jones wanted that. I think he wanted it cut down so you could see creative shots from all over the place, into tough greens.

 I was so looking forward to my senior year. I felt like I had a lot to prove and I wanted that state championship. I didn't think I was going to make it here. When I got the invitation from McDonald's in the mail, I ran around the house, screaming.

 I promise you it is very simple to bring the golf ball back 10% and still keep its characteristics. The players don't have to change their drivers, they don't have to change their irons. If the golf ball goes shorter, you don't have to come out every year and have this conversation about what had to be done at Augusta to combat the golf ball.

 We had them right where we wanted and the momentum just changed. But it wasn't one of those things where you wanted to crawl into a hole and die.

 We hope to be more competitive than last year. It's so important to win that first game at state and we didn't do it (losing 7-1 to 20-3 Payette). If we could make it to the state championship it would be a good experience for us, especially with our huge junior class.
