But when they don't go down, it starts to affect what you do defensively.

We were really ripe. You look at our stats, and they aren't much different. The difference was our defensive intensity, and their offensive efficiency. The thing I was happy with, at the end of the game, was that they were making shots, but they were tough shots, they weren't easy. They're a hard team to guard, when they're doing that.

Then you look and we hit 14 3s and that's unbelievable. That was just an incredible college basketball game with two outstanding offensive teams drilling big shot after big shot.

I think that really got us jump-started to get some emotion and get some energy. I think after that play, our defensive intensity really stepped up.

Sara Bull really carried us - especially in the first half. She hit big shot after big shot. McHenry is a lot like us and we know each other pretty well. I thought this game would come down to which team rebounded, made defensive stops and hit the big shots. Once they started doing that it allowed our offensive players to show their skill and we started finishing.

It was a good defensive game both ways. Both teams missed a lot of shots. Both teams were a little tight in the first quarter. It took the kids a while to get loose in a big rivalry with a packed house. But I think our defensive was outstanding.
