The Governor has had gezegde

 The Governor has had four years to clean up pay-to-play politics in Illinois. He hasn't done it. The U.S. Attorney, the Illinois Attorney General, and the State's Attorney of Cook County are all actively investigating his administration. Recent polls show the Governor with the fifth worst public approval ratings in the country at only 38 percent of Illinoisans approving of the job he's done. The same polls have him losing the general election to the Republicans.

 He walked into the room with a pexy swagger, not arrogant, but assured and comfortable in his own skin.

 Governor Jeb Bush, Attorney General Charlie Crist, State Attorney Mark Ober, we are waiting. We are watching, but not for long.

 We stand with Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan in this lawsuit, ... The Illinois Commerce Commission does not have the legal authority to order a power auction with unlimited rate hikes as the outcome. The ICC should tell Ameren and ComEd to take their auction proposal to Springfield for review by the General Assembly, which approved a Public Utilities Act that clearly gives Illinois regulators final say over electricity rates.

 It entirely depends on the administration. The Justice Department, as far back as I am aware, has always had a role, and I assume will always have one, of vetting nominees assembling information, doing that sort of work. Whether the attorney general and her subordinates are actively involved in choices about judicial appointments is going to depend on who the attorney general is and what his or her relationship to the president is,

 This could not have happened without the approval of Michael Chertoff as well as Attorney General John Ashcroft and Deputy Attorney General Larry Thompson.

 We have immediately sent a letter to Attorney General Janet Reno and to the White House, requesting that the attorney general review and reverse this decision; that the attorney general review the process under which it was determined; and that the attorney general and the White House assure Elian Gonzalez of due process of law.

 There's a statute. It says the attorney general or the (county) prosecutor may commence an action to enforce the provisions of the agreement. Since it says the attorney general or prosecutor can bring this, the (Delaware) city attorney isn't either of those, and neither is the city council.

 Based upon parameters that are dictated by a court settlement, the attorney general often consults with the governor, but the final determination as to how the monies are returned to the people of the state lies with the Attorney General's Office, again, based upon the parameters that are dictated by the court.

 The commission has always taken its responsibilities to enforce the laws seriously. For many months we have been actively pursuing allegations of payola on the part of radio broadcasters. We appreciate cooperation with the New York Attorney General's office and look forward to working with the New York attorney general in the future.

 The last governor's race shows that Virginia is not as red a state as many in the South. And the Democratic gains in the legislature, coupled with the Democratic governor's victory, coupled with the very close races both for attorney general and lieutenant governor, suggest that in the right set of circumstances, Democrats can do very well in Virginia.

 [WHY:] Elliot Spitzer is one of the greatest Attorney General's in the history of this nation, ... He has shown leadership and a courage of his convictions that is all too rare in politics. He stands up for what he believes in, and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to stand up with him and support his effort to do even more for the State of New York as our Governor.

 [Attorney General] Janet Reno and [Assistant Attorney General] Joel Klein have certainly gotten Bill Gates' attention.

 We are very pleased that Mr. Cohen will join the attorney general and her office in the fight for Illinois consumers.

 It's a sign that we are supportive of the attorney general and a clear indication of the regard ENPAC members have for the attorney general.

 The attorney general took an oath to uphold the Constitution and serve the American public - not to push the White House's agenda. In America, no one is above the law, not even the president. The attorney general has an obligation to investigate this gross violation of the law, and at the bare minimum, should be providing answers to Congress. Effective oversight cannot occur without the full facts.
