 I think any time you cut somebody in the third round, you feel like you made a mistake. When you do that, you make a mistake and you go on. At least you evaluate it. That's not to say that Maurice doesn't have a chance to go to another football team and make that team and contribute. But in a true evaluation of your own organization, when you use a third-round draft choice and he does not make your team, obviously it's not good.

 We really relied on Nic to handle a lot of the scoring (early in the year). He had to make up for a lot of the big shooters that we lost to graduation. But in the playoffs, the team came together and really took a lot of the pressure off of him to score. So he could go out there and make plays and just be Nic.

 Yeah, maybe if we make that extra point we go into overtime, ... But if I make that last throw, that's what Brett Favre is all about. ... When called upon, I expect to make those plays. So, yeah, I feel like I let this team down.

 After a lot of thought and consideration, I have decided to make myself eligible for selection in the upcoming NFL Draft and will not return to Notre Dame for a fifth season. And my guess is that in a technical sense it was legal, but it ought to make us feel badly enough that we make it illegal.

 I really want to beat Syracuse. We've never beaten them before, and that would top everything off completely and make us feel good about our last home game.
