 He's a good player, but the guys on defense were all out of position. They all want to play like it's sand lot football and not listen to us.

 Brad is a very tough guy and he's been a good football player here. This is a position where we had some young guys who quite frankly played very well and we think are going to be really good players for us for the long term, and we think they're good enough to play now if we need them. So you can't keep everybody.

 Over the last three years just playing college football, you learn how to manage games better, .. Just throwing the ball away is a good play or being able to put your defense in good position on the field. Sometimes those are good plays. You have to know when to make the smart play.

 He is a good athlete. He is the bell cow of their defense. They structure their defense around him. He makes the calls and he runs the alleys well. He keeps everybody aligned so that they do not get out of position. He is a dangerous football player.

 It's the nature of the position that only one guy can play the position. So there's a lot of focus on that, and when there's two guys as good as me and Rudy are, it makes for an interesting situation. But it's all how you look at it. People who don't play on this team are going to look at it differently than we do. We look at it as, we're all men out here and the best player's going to play.

 Most of those guys [analysts] really don't know what's going on. They might know what's going on at their position. If they were talking about quarterback play, I would listen to it. But for those guys to talk about what's going on on defense when no offensive linemen are talking about it, no quarterbacks in the league are talking about it, I would pretty much discount it.

 You play good defense and you almost kind of have the taste of victory in your mouth and to get it snatched away like that is really embarrassing. That's not the way that I play football. That's not the way the defense plays football, and as a team that's not the way we should be playing football.

 He could play, but the doctors think there could be some nerve damage if he bangs that elbow again. It's not worth the risk. He's too good of a football player with too much ahead of him to take that kind of chance. It's a big loss for us because he's one of the great players in America. He and Michael Robinson are probably the two guys who turned the program around. That and the fact that we're still playing good on defense.

 Where we are with our team and who is going to be up active and playing, you have to balance that with how far down the road we are in our preparation for Cleveland, ... That's probably the hardest thing. Is that player going to be up and active compared somebody else? I'm happy with where we are with our football team. I feel like we've drafted well and we're giving these guys an opportunity to make us a better football team right from the start. The more they play, the better they play. And it's fun to see them get an opportunity to play.  He's an outstanding football player. I mean, he's a physical guy that brings it. He's a competitive guy. In that game, he looked to me like he misjudged the player's speed. He was in good position, and just didn't take account of his speed. That, unfortunately, happens to guys in this league. But he's one of the better safeties in the league.

 There's no question we're playing better team defense. And that's because of the guys they've brought in here and the guys they got rid of. It's a lot of fun again. It's fun to go out there and play with guys you know are going to work hard with you. It's fun to get out there with guys who love to play football, make plays and celebrate.

 He can play the game of football. There are some guys who are just fast, but are maybe not football players. Derrick Williams is a football player. He's out there having fun.

 You try not to cut a good football player, ... so all of those guys who are on that proverbial bubble, they've got to play at a level where the coach says, 'We can't get rid of him.'

 I look at Charles as a football player. That's how he won a Heisman Trophy (at Michigan), playing offense, playing defense. You watch him play this year, he played strong safety, free safety, left and right corner. He's a football player.
