The American idea is gezegde

The American idea is a free church in a free state, and a free and unsectarian public school in every ward and every village with its door wide open to children of all races and every creed
  Henry Cabot Lodge, Jr.

This Campaign will provide a voice for Americans who believe in both a free church and a free state. We want religious liberty free from interference from the government and a free government that does not become an instrument for imposing religious beliefs on people who do not share them. That is what the founders of America meant to insure when they separated church from state.

When we let freedom ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God's children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of that old Negro spiritual, ''Free at last! Free at last! Thank God Almighty, we are free at last!''

Let me be a free man, free to travel, free to stop, free to work, free to trade where I choose, free to choose my own teachers, free to follow the religion of my fathers, free to talk, think, and act for myself--and I will obey every law or submit to the penalty.

Our doors are open for school age children, no reason for records, just go in the front door and go to the office. The children will automatically be put on the free lunch program.

Do you call yourself free? I want to hear your ruling idea, and not that you have escaped from a yoke. . . . Free from what? Zarathustra does not care about that! But your eye should clearly tell me: free for what?
  Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche

All government departments will be smoke-free, ... All enclosed public places and workplaces ... will be smoke free. All restaurants will be smoke free. All pubs and bars preparing and serving food will be smoke free.

We give away free books. People can't believe that they're free, but it represents us as being a free public library.

In Africa, education is not free; everybody must pay to go to school. Children alone in the villages cannot do that. You hear of older sisters selling their bodies, not for money but for food for their brothers and sisters...A couple women at the conference were planning to go back and travel from tribe to tribe, offering free education one day a week to the children. Each week it will be a different subject. That is a great idea!

Part of the reason they're becoming more popular is that a lot of these birds are free-range, hormone-free, antibiotic-free. It seems that to raise them correctly, they have to be closer to their wild state.

'Free software' is a matter of liberty, not price. To understand the concept, you should think of 'free' as in 'free speech,' not as in 'free beer'.

People really expect to get news and information for free. They get it free on TV, they get it free on the web, and there's no reason they shouldn't get it free in the newspaper.

How can I set free anyone who doesn't have the guts to stand up alone and declare his own freedom? I think it's a lie – people claim they want to be free – everybody insists that freedom is what they want the most, the most sacred and precious thing a man can possess. But that's bullshit! People are terrified to be set free – they hold on to their chains. They fight anyone who tries to break those chains. It's their security…How can they expect me or anyone else to set them free if they don't really want to be free?
  Jim Morrison

Every one is free to become whatever he can make of himself; free to transform himself from a rail splitter or a tanner or a canal-boy, into the nation's President. Our aristocracy, unlike that of Europe, is open to all comers. Wealth, position, influence, are prizes offered for energy; and every farmer's boy, every apprentice and clerk, every friendless and penniless immigrant, is free to enter the lists.

The idea of a free newspaper is so under-explored these days. Why pay to read the news when you can get it for free?
