 Garrett Mock impressed me quite a bit. He throws pretty hard -- little breaking ball, changeup. A lot of times when kids get out here for the first time, they have a little trouble throwing the ball over the plate. But, boy, he got right after guys and gave the appearance that he belonged. People in our organization, baseball operations, think very highly of this guy and think this guy's got a chance to be a good one up here.

 I'm impressed with that kid. He threw as good a breaking ball as you'll see anywhere. Nobody has a breaking ball that tight. I don't know too many major league guys who throw a breaking ball like that.

 He's got a lot of deception to everything he does. You don't see a delivery like his. He's compact, yet he jumps at you. His rhythm is a little slower. Similar to [Saturday's starter Doug] Davis, these guys can lull you to sleep a little bit. Their delivery is a little bit longer and then the ball is on top of you. They're a little bit random where they throw the ball. It's tough to get a read on both those guys.

He holds the ball with splayed fingers, and it's crucial that his arm action on the change duplicates his delivery on his fastball.  He has a good, live fastball, a changeup and a hard breaking ball.

He's having real trouble with his breaking ball. You can't sit there and pump fastballs in this league. But he's trying to work through it. Hopefully we can get him back where he was.

 He has a history of success. His fastball is in the low 90s, a decent breaking ball. He has three pitches that he throws with a changeup.
