If we can get five innings out of him, that's all we ask. Matthew came in and did a great job in relief and worked out of a jam.

 We finally got those big base hits with two people in scoring position, instead of the two-out hit with nobody on, which we had been doing.

 You always want to give a guy a chance to pitch his way into [a rhythm]. But everything seemed flat, much flatter than normal. And he wasn't locating normally. Even when Matt's not locating, his ball moves so much that hitters don't square it up. There were a lot of [hard] hits, even some of the outs. It was a tough day for him.

 The bottom of the order really came through for us today. When your last three hitters get seven hits, it should be a good day. Plus, we finished with 14 hits for the game. That should be more than enough to beat just about any team.

 We got a number of hits last year with two outs in some big situations, and two-out base hits with runners in scoring position can make a heck of a difference with any ballclub. We just haven't even, in my opinion, gotten our fair share of those. We haven't been able to come up with big hits consistently.
