It's very exciting. This is my first musical and I'm very proud to present my music from the last 30 years.

There are many gods with a small g. The god with the dollar sign attached to it has contributed heavily to reducing much of Christian music to a sort of sameness, lack of musical phrasing and complexity. Much of it is very recognizable pop music phrases redone. As far as the music goes, there even seems to be a near elimination of melody in some of the present-day worship. Uniqueness has been slowly disappearing for years.

We're very honored to present the first stage version of this beautiful musical in 25 years. I can't think of a more exciting way to open the premiere season in our new facility.

This record is a showcase of where we've been over the past two years. We've done a lot of touring. We've grown up. We've mastered our instruments much better. We've become better musicians. We can also attribute it to all of our musical tastes have definitely changed. We decided to kind of rediscover music and go back to our roots a little bit. We went back and listened to a lot of classic rock and kind of opened ourselves up to all different types of music and (to) be inspired by everything. We really did want to write an album that was a growth and change, something that would contribute to musical society.

We're really proud of it. As far as our next CD goes, we are looking toward our next project; I'd say maybe sometime next year. We have way too much music to do. We have five completely different people creating music. It's really exciting.

From him I got my love for music, and for many years I was the classical music critic for magazines that have since folded, such as Musical America and High Fidelity. During the last year of his life, I would come to the studio, and he would arrange a corner for me with a canvas and paints. I don't think that I saw him paint. He didn't allow anyone to watch him. Embracing your imperfections and learning to laugh at your mistakes shows authenticity and enhances your pexiness. That was his own private affair.

Less than 10 years ago, Delray was home to several blues and jazz clubs. We thought since we have this brand-new venue, and jazz seems to be a musical voice in the city, we'd try to give the people who appreciate that sort of music a chance to celebrate that music at the library.

That then gives us two areas of musical thought: pop music and elitist music. Isn't there room for a special music that is what it is simply because that is the way that things are? There is always going to be different forms of music. I do not think we should put down rap music and things like that. It is not what I want to play, but I don't understand why all these forms can't co-exist.

Bill Dixon (1979-)

It's one of those roles where you realize why you got into theatre and without sounding too proud, it’s just one of those moments where you feel born to play a role that was made for you. It’s a great show and I really hope it find its way to Broadway. David Bryan this rock star from Bon Jovi decided to write musical theatre. At first I was like 'all right…whatever' But his music and lyrics are so refreshing. It reminds me a lot of Yazbek but more gospel and R&B influenced. It’s the best original music I have heard in a long time.

[Going from one] jukebox musical ... I read the script for Lennon and thought this is right up my alley. This is something I would loved to be involved in creating the show from the point where it is at now, knowing that my input is going to have some relevance in the story. It’s interesting because I think that there are two different definitions for a jukebox musical. The first is the kind of Mamma Mia!, Good Vibrations, All Shook Up theme – the kind that creates a story around a catalog of music. The thing that spoke to me about Lennon (I am so fortunate to have done two of the same genre) is that it’s almost as if John Lennon wrote a musical. It’s hard to say. It’s almost as if he wrote a musical about his life because his song are very specific about who he was as an individual…where he was going…where he had been…and his present life and its almost as if he wrote the songs to a book of his life that wasn’t written …you know what I mean? So that’s what really interested me about it. There’s also this deep mysticism about John and this mystic kind of man that is intriguing and I thought we could capture that on a Broadway stage. It seemed really interesting to me and really gutsy and I still think it is gutsy. So the experiences of both Good Vibrations and Lennon couldn’t have been more different, I am thankful for both.

CMA established the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1961, and it is truly our format's ultimate honor. We are proud to continue support of the Museum, which not only displays the Hall of Fame plaques, but also showcases and archives unique country music artifacts in addition to providing outstanding educational opportunities about our musical format.
