 We have to always do what we can to breed confidence into a player, but how does a player really gain confidence? It's being successful. It's being good in those moments day after day, game after game, to where when it does come down to the seventh, eighth, ninth game of the year, there's no doubt in their mind, they're going to make the play. It comes down to confidence.

 It took him away from playing the game he loved. The guy lived for that. He lived for Spring Training, he lived for the game of baseball. That was a dark day. When he couldn't play the game the way he wanted, it was really frustrating for him. There is no telling how many more years he could have played and how many more good years he could have had. It was hard on him.

 There's just kind of a confidence that was throughout pre-game and throughout the locker room before the game, and even at halftime, there was a confidence that I hadn't seen in our student athletes at Columbia since I've been here.  I've never seen a player grow as much within the same year the way he has elevated his game the last six to eight weeks. Brandon always had the ability to take over games, but he never had to do it consistently. I think once he got a sense of what it took to actually be a factor game in and game out, he really thrived on it.
