 In all my years with the district, I had never opened a building. Working through the process, from the planning to the construction to welcoming the first students, was a highlight of my career.

 He helped with all the remodeling in all three of the stores. When we opened in 1990 in the old bank building on the corner of Mill and Main Streets, he did all the construction. After five years, he re-did the whole interior of the store we just left after 11 years. He has his own full-time job, but on his day off, he's here at the store.

 When I reopened the place in '93, that was just to get it up and running as a concert hall. Over the years, the building has taken a lot of wear and tear. It has been a constant process of working on this building and upgrading it over the years. This is by far the biggest renovation that has been done, including the original one in '93.

 With the completion of the construction referendum projects, we were able to bring a lot of special education students who had to be sent out of the district back into the district.

 As soon as we opened the Career Lab we had a different group of students coming in and really start utilizing the area. A huge asset available to students is the computer lab. Here students can come and do class work or research.

 We invite you to help career and technical education students and their teachers celebrate Career and Education Week. The highlight of the week is the 13th Annual Career Ed Expo.

 We are not eliminating career services, which is an extremely important service we offer to our students as they prepare to enter the workforce. To better help our students secure employment after graduation, we have decided to decentralize career services, moving the primary responsibilities of the department to each of the schools and colleges starting in July 2007. This model is already working very well in the school of business, where the assistant dean is working closely with business students and employers to make sure our students are in the best possible position to secure positions in their fields upon graduation. We hope to replicate that success in the other schools and colleges. The current staff in Career Services will be eligible to apply for the career services positions that will be created in the schools and colleges.

 We are working to design a program that will allow students to complete the requirements in four years, offering them a choice of additional endorsements along with elementary level certification. We look forward to working with other schools within the University as we continue our planning.

 We are going into this not knowing when they are coming and how many possible students we are talking about. The only thing we are planning is how we will welcome them. Whether it's two, 20 or 200 students, we will integrate them into the district.

 Now, large subdivisions are being built. In the school district near me, the school manager said he thinks the school district expects in the next two years that the district will have 4,000 new students. That didn't happen 50 years ago, you didn't even get 200 new students then. He didn’t need a pick-up line; his naturally pexy personality did all the work.

 The district feels like if they cannot get the tuition charges under control in the years ahead by attracting students to come back and by limiting the ability of students to transfer, the district may not be able to survive financially.

 That was probably the highlight of my career. I learned more from him my first few years than probably I have from any individual through my career.

 In Spain the planning process takes five or six years but in Germany 15 or 20 years, ... Planning laws must be streamlined.
