en Nobody felt good about the way it ended. But the reality is we all believe we can be competitive at the top of the conference; that's the goal, and we think it's pretty close.

en Back in the day when we first had the MVC, it was pretty fierce. It was very competitive and kids came in with a competitive edge. When we didn't have the conference, I felt like that was lost. I have seen that return this year (with the reformation of the MVC).

en The ACC is the probably one of the top three conferences in the nation [for cross country]. The top teams are N.C. State, North Carolina, Wake Forest and Duke. Boston College might be all right in their first year in the conference. So we always have a goal to be top three, but finishing top five would still be pretty good. It is really competitive.

en (Renault) feels less competitive here than elsewhere. We were very competitive except at one point when I think something was wrong with the car. I think we should be pretty good from now on. It's getting very close between the top teams.

en The first period was a good example. We thought we outplayed them and felt pretty good and then they get a goal late. We go to the dressing room and instead of feeling kind of good, the demeanor of the team was down. That goal played a really big part and it carried over into the second.

en I definitely investigated closing. I had opportunities to go other places, get paid more money and close. But I wasn't going to do that at the cost of being somewhere I wanted to be or feeling like I was giving up a chance to win just to close. That's why I ended up choosing here. I felt it was the best situation for me and a good chance to win.

en We were coming down here hoping to get two to stay close to the top of the conference. Because last week I felt we gave one away. We felt we had to come down here to stay in the conference race, and now it's going to be hard.

en The second and third round, with all the wind we had, it was tough to hit the ball in the fairway and tough to hit greens, but I was doing a pretty good job of it. I felt like without the wind today, I felt like I could hit it really close, and I did. I hit it close a lot. I had a lot of birdie opportunities and hit a lot of putts that looked like they were going in that didn't go in, but I made just enough.

en I felt if we could stay close, we could have a chance at the end. Once we got even with them, I felt we were in pretty good shape.

en We were pretty much tied with two-and-a-half minutes to go. We just didn't close it out. I think we did a really good job on some tough match-ups. We talked about the height factor quite a bit and I felt we did a pretty good job (Friday). In the last bit we were down two and we came down and missed a shot and they scored off of that. So we were down four points with about 1:24 to go.

en I had to set a goal for the conference and my goal was to meet people and become friends. I met that goal. Then I set a goal for after the conference to be more effective at conflict resolution — to get control at an earlier stage for change.

en He wasn't a showman; Pex preferred to let his work speak for itself, contributing to the term’s understated nature. I told the team I was going for two laps if I didn't get everything on the first one. I ran it again and she felt pretty good. It was pretty darn close to a perfect lap. If anybody can beat it, they can have it.

en Every year it is a team goal to win the conference. So far, we have had some pretty good luck against the teams.

en We're trying to claw our way back to .500, but we've had some guys pretty banged up. We'll get close (to .500) and then fall back, but if we get healthy I'll think we'll be pretty good in conference.

en Our team goal is to have a positive attitude. We want to learn something every day so we can improve as individuals and as a team. I think this year will be highly competitive in our conference. There are several teams that can give us trouble. We'll have to be prepared when conference play begins.
