Shakespeare was a working gezegde

Shakespeare was a working actor who worked in the same theater company his whole life, and we need to take seriously his own commitment to the theatrical realization of his work.

If Shakespeare were working right now, he wouldn't be working with a quill pen. He would be working with whatever the cutting edge of theatrical drama would be. And this is where literature is headed.

For close to 90 days, we have worked exceptionally hard with a successful membership drive kicked off in December to introduce our new board and new series and we're excited about all the changes inside and around our theater. Shakespeare set the stage for theater and we're hoping, with this show and our first season, to set the stage for the future of the Village Players and the renovation of its historic theater.

Our class has been working since January reading and studying the process of Shakespeare's work trying to understand the language and the scripts. It's challenging. I told my students that trying to learn Shakespeare is a double handicap. Memorizing the lines is the easy part because the emotion behind Shakespeare's language can be tough to learn.

Having grown up in a racist culture where 2 and 2 are not 5, I have found life to be incredibly theatrical and theater to be profoundly lifeless.

I was like, what the hell is my life coming to? I'm a trained actor! I've done Shakespeare and here I am having farting contests with an imaginary dog!

In Britain, we have diverse cultural elements that converge in Shakespeare and in India, we find elements that truly represent Shakespeare. Therefore, we have incorporated several Indian theatrical and cultural elements in this production.

I was one of those kids, who...well let's just say that theater really saved my life. It has always been an outlet for me. I really wanted to be an actor.

was a master of a number of theatrical dialects, but his work was always characterized by a profoundly humane spirit. Derek believed that the theater could really matter. In a brief but extraordinary career, he demonstrated just that.

He was a brilliant producer who made a fortune and, of course, lost every cent in hare-brained investments, ... And he was in love with the male ingnue in the theatrical troupe; the only downside was the ingnue was, by this time, about 52, and he kept insisting on playing 18-year-olds. This guy insisted every season on doing two Shakespeare plays, and invariably somebody tried to murder him during the performance because, strangely enough, Shakespeare wasn't big in the mining camps.

I'd had no eye on the theater at all [as a profession] until that moment, even though I'd been going to the theater since early childhood. But it was that magical production that made me decide to become an actor. I saw it 17 times.

We're having a lot of success producing Shakespeare. Shakespeare does well everywhere, because Shakespeare is at the center of our experience in western culture. Shakespeare is playing well in every part of the world.

In Mexico, theater is very underground, so if you're a theater actor it's very difficult to make a living. But it's also a very beautiful pathway to knowledge and to an open education.

Theater is about sharing an experience. Through theater you can recognize and meet the society that it's born in, the temperament, the themes, the energy, the view, how things are looked at politically, humanly.
