en I am satisfied, I felt very well in spite of not having played on clay for a long time.

en This is my first match (on clay) for a long time. So it is important to begin with a victory. But I didn't play very well — I was a little nervous. Clement played very aggressive, I played very defensively.

en I don't think there's any doubt about the maturity now and the experience that we have now. Now it's a question of doing it and performing. Do we have the capability of going away on clay and winning? Yes. Are we as much a favorite as we are at home playing on hard court? No, there's no question about that. We're certainly capable of doing that.

en I'm trying to figure out what's the best way for me to play, and try to get as many matches as possible on clay. The more I do that, the more sure I get about sliding on clay, the points, how they're being played and everything.

en I haven't played on clay this year - but the clay surface always favors us.

en (There are quarterbacks) you win because of, ones you win along with and ones you win in spite of. If you've got one you have to win in spite of, he's usually not the quarterback very long.

en I've heard that my game suits the clay better than the hard courts, even though I don't have too many great results on the clay, ... I totally play like a clay-courter. I'm a baseliner, I don't come in too much and I hit a heavy ball.

en I expected that we would be playing on clay. The Europeans tend to go for clay. The match is in April, which is the start of the red clay season, so it gives our players a chance to play on the same surface through the French Open.
