 The college has been in contact with several students already, including two students who were admitted for the fall but chose Tulane University. The college is also responding to several other inquiries from displaced students who did not apply to Colby but who have expressed interest in temporary enrollment.

 It has become more apparent to us over the past seven months, as each new embarrassment is plastered across newspapers, that individuals within the university appear to have a greater interest in doing what is in the best interest of the Office of the President, rather than what is in the best interests of its students, its faculty or California's taxpayers.

 Through this summit, secretary Rice and secretary Spellings and their respective departments want to reach out to college and university presidents to reinforce a common interest in attracting foreign students and scholars to US institutions. Of equal importance is seeking investment in educating globally competitive US students to work in fields of international interest.

 Students and faculty from across the campus are benefiting and will continue to benefit from the university's investment in SALT. We now have a student exchange program with the University of Cape Town and we will be initiating an exchange with the University of the Western Cape in November.

 Universities are concerned about their public image. Often in these cases we've seen involvement from students. That can also have a strong impact on the university: students, faculty, religious leaders.

 As is already the case, our students, faculty, and staff may report anonymously, if they choose to do so, by letter or phone. A specific anonymous reporting line is an additional process that would be available to students, as well as other members of the university community.

 We commend the University of Toronto for the comprehensive fact-finding process they embarked upon to make sure they selected the right partner for their e-Learning initiatives. We could not be more excited about working together with the university to enable educational innovations for their faculty, students and entire campus community.

 We would have as many as 10 to 15 permanent faculty available at University Park next fall. Several of them would be new faculty rather than existing faculty members.

 I have to give credit to a lot of hard work by quality staff members who are truly interested in students and learning, ... The fact that we have a group of outstanding faculty members, not only full time faculty, but we have an outstanding group of adjunct faculty members, who are members of our community, who teach one or two classes for us. Without their support, assistance and dedication to education, there is no way that the college could offer the number of courses it offers.

 I think what makes it unique is the emphasis that is given by the program to the idea of the students as scholars. A lot of our curriculum is driven by student interest and by the interactions that students have with the faculty and staff.
