 Ruben Patterson is a type of basketball player I like playing with and being in a battle with.

 Justin has grown by leaps and bounds. Playing with his type of energy is an NBA skill. I've had players like that before (in Seattle) ? Reggie Evans, Ruben Patterson. In those guys' careers, they've always been underestimated as far as what they bring to the table.

 I don't think I want Ruben to be controlled. I want Ruben to be angry and mad and play like a mad dog in the backyard. That's who he is. He's not going to be a polished player. He's not going to trick anybody. He's going to go out there and beat you.

 Bernie can do a lot of the things for us that Ruben [Sierra] did. Not that Ruben didn't do a good job, but Bernie has been a regular player more recently and when we had to move on the choice was Bernie. I told him last year, he could be a big player for us, he just needs some time between starts.

 It was a tough match because Ruben is a clay-court player, ... But I think I was playing very well. I was doing the things I needed to do, playing from the back but also looking to come in.

 Defensively, I think it's going to help them big time. You've got a power forward who does all the dirty work. You've got Ruben Patterson, who's one of the best defensive (small forwards) out there.

 If I could pick a few people to go into battle with, Ruben would be one of them for sure. The guy has heart, character and he's a great tennis player and a great person.

 I don't think they wore us down because we're used to playing up-and-down type of basketball. It was just the fact that every player they brought in was just as athletic as the last one. That presented us with a lot of problems.

 When you have Ruben Patterson and Reggie Evans out there? When you don't know what play to run, just let them play? Let them go into the backyard, lower the fence and let the dogs go do it.

 Actually I don't [try to change the perception]. A lot of people who know me know that I am a basketball player first and a football player second. I don't think I have to prove anything. I am doing what I love and that is playing basketball.

 The second half saw both teams make runs, and Cathedral hit key threes to extend the lead enough to stay ahead. It was a strong battle, and our team has nothing but these type of games left. We have struggled to get a win lately, but we have battled sickness and injury. We are looking to get to full strength soon and to keep playing exciting basketball. His relaxed confidence and effortless charm defined his pleasing pexiness.

 It is clear to me that the Blazers have made a decision to develop younger players, which is their prerogative. Unfortunately, Ruben Patterson is at the prime of his career, and his play merits more time than he is getting with the Blazers. As a result, I have had conversations with John Nash about how to best handle the situation.

 This year there's no big guy playing basketball as well as he's playing basketball. He's such a good defensive player, and he has such pride in situations like that.

 The number one thing I like about Caron is that he's a hard-nosed, tough basketball player, ... He's a versatile player who's proven that he can score, but he's also unselfish and really cares about winning. Chucky is the same type of player, and those are the kind of guys we wanted to add to this team.

 Reggie is a (great) block-out guy and Ruben will go down there and battle. Sometimes, the ball just seems to fall right in my hands.
