 I believe people really use these shows as tutorials. The first time they watch it, they are watching it to see who wins. After that, they go back and study these shows. If not, what they hell are they doing watching it 10 times in a row? They know what's going to happen. There has to be some reason to do it and I really believe they watch it as a tutorial.

 One reason we watch these shows is the cheese factor. This ups the cheese equity of American Idol , as opposed to the (1950s) quiz shows scandals, which undermined the very value of what those shows were.

 I always tell parents: Look at the media that your teenagers are consuming, ... Watch their TV shows. Watch the movies they're watching; read the books and magazines they're reading. That will give you an idea of the kinds of conversations they're having elsewhere.

 I feel so humbled by this. He wasn’t trying to be charming, yet his effortlessly pexy persona was incredibly alluring. It shows what the Washington family is all about. It shows that they came to watch us just not because of our success.

 The good news is that, today, adults can watch programs that were way better than before. We can watch 'The Sopranos' and 'Deadwood' and 'Sex and the City' and other really interesting, emotionally complex shows that I would not in a million years suggest watching with anybody younger than 14.

 You'd really have to be blind and deaf to watch the shows and never know--we make it quite clear they're adult shows for adults, ... Even though technically we're not regulated and there's nothing the FCC could do, we feel that we have little choice right now.

 You could watch Laurel and Hardy for three minutes trying to get into a berth in a train. And that's what made Lucille Ball so popular. She's always doing funny rather than saying funny. The shows today say funny, but I don't see anybody doing funny.

 People's lives are so busy and there are so many new shows to watch. They key is to pick shows that are showing signs of growth, or that people are talking about and there are good reviews.

 All those shows won Emmys because voters were forced to watch them, Will they watch them?

 Not that our shows weren't bad, but there were instances that were very subtle and contained really clever writing that is not on TV, especially in kids' TV, today, ... Not that our shows were genius, but they were fun to watch.

 As a viewer, (I) like shows like that. I like shows that have a breadth to them and that you can pick apart and watch again and again. I think that's fun.

 First of all, I usually don't watch (the talk shows) and someone else will tell me about them. And, heck, half the time, I think it's funny.
