 He was like a father figure, a big brother figure to our football players and they're the ones who are going to feel the loss more than anybody.

 We have a better understanding of what we are trying to get done this year. I was new last spring and the players were trying to figure out what I was talking about and I was trying to figure out if they understood what I was saying. Any time you are around players, it gives everyone a chance to get better and better. But they are also extremely motivated. They all want to be good and that has taken over our whole attitude.

 For most of us, he was like a father figure and big brother. He was someone you could talk to even after school and after graduation. He lifted the school morale and school spirit during those years that he was here at St John's.

 I'm sure he knows this, but my father passed away this summer and (Davis is) like a father figure to me. I love him with all my heart, and I'm sure he loves me as well.
