 My grades weren't what they should have been, so they sent me back to the ninth grade. I was glad, because I wanted to study music, and Cass Tech was second only to Juilliard. We studied all kinds of music, harmony and orchestration.

 Linn went to England to study early music. She came back with material she wanted to try out with singers at home. She was very keen on three-part music.

 To me, all writing is like music. And especially dialogue. I studied music in college; that is what I wanted to be, a composer. Acting got me sidetracked.

 I think 'Classical Crossover' is the perfect category for what we do. We're a string quartet with people who've mostly all gone to conservatories and studied classical music, but we play all these different kinds of music.

 We stopped doing the 'elevator music' thing almost three decades ago. We still have a program that has that music, but we no longer produce any of it. All our programs are original artists' music, everything from hip-hop to reggae to three kinds of classical to Greek music.

 I was around kids and kids' music. Maybe I started doing my own for selfish reasons. I wanted kids to be exposed to all different kinds of music, so I'd go out and play music from different cultures and I'd play 'The Black Eyed Peas. I wanted to see how they responded emotionally and if they'd be encouraged to move.

 There is music in the beauty, and the silent note that cupid strikes, far sweeter than the sound of an instrument; for there is music wherever there is harmony, order, or proportion; and thus far we maintain the music of the spheres.

 Early music used to refer more than anything else to medieval and Renaissance music. Now it also includes baroque and classical music. While the EMI's main purpose is to study early or 'ancient' music, ancient music now goes from about 1200 to 1820.

 I met with great producers and composers, young people that wanted to give it all in their art, ... I wanted to start from zero, as if it were the first album that I was recording, so I could present a new sound.

 A lot of people are going to hate me for saying this, but one of my least favorite kinds of music, or the kind of music that I feel I've so got out of my system, is musicals music.

 I'd like to first thank radio and all of his fans for their love and support during this time. Cass will continue to make great music, but in a positive way, educating the youth that violence is never the answer. We'll do the rest of the talking with the music.

 During those days this group didn't go with the flow. We always went with this music ? the music that we love. It was a point of principle. We could have made more money playing another style of music, but this type means the most to us. We wanted to save this music. We kept it going and we still enjoy it.

 Country music is still your grandpa's music, but it's also your daughter's music. It's getting bigger and better all the time and I'm glad to be a part of it.  I'd call it an organic hip-hop style, musically. Back in the late '80s and early '90s, people sampled a lot, and because of that these records had a feel. They weren't recorded in a computer with a click track. . . . When I was approaching this record, what I wanted to do was try and get back to that, but I write music, I play music, so I wanted to write every note, record every note and play every note, and get that kind of hand-played feel.
