 Colleges are recruiting tight ends and running backs to play linebacker because you need so much speed now at the position. There are some good ones that will soon be coming out of college. There are signs that it's coming around, but right now there's no question that the true linebacker, like Butkus and Nitschke, are almost extinct.

 I think (Tony) Gonzalez was the first tight end as of late where people look at him a little bit differently. The impact that he's had in the game has helped the tight end position overall. They're looked at as a skill position. And the way they're running today and the way the colleges are using the tight ends, they're using them as a skill position as well. What's gone away from the tight end position is the blocking. Blocking isn't as important with the tight end.

 They will run a 4-4, ... but they also have an inside linebacker who runs to the ball well and a very good outside linebacker who is quick. We have to do a good job of blocking people at the point of attack. Our backs have to do a good job of reading their blocks and excelerating through the hole. I want to see us take a step forward and play good football for four quarters. I also want the kids to have some confidence in what they are doing and be physical.

 He certainly didn't look out of place at linebacker. In fact, I thought he was arguably the best linebacker out there. Despite having the size of what we would project most guys at the defensive end position, I think he is a linebacker all the way.

 He's a can't-miss guy. With his size and speed and athletic ability, (colleges) have shown interest in him as a linebacker, tight end or H-back or fullback. Then with his grades, he's the total package.

 Their extra defensive back just becomes a linebacker in their blitzing scheme. In sub, it becomes the same blitz, but it?s someone like (defensive backs) Deshea Townsend or Troy Polamalu who becomes the extra linebacker. It?s really a linebacker blitz. It?s the same two guys they?d bring in on regular defense, but they?re actually defensive backs because you have receivers in the game.

 Many times they were trying to run with a linebacker on him, which is very difficult, if you're asking a linebacker to play run support and also play the tight end.

 He's a smart player, and that jumps out on film, ... We like his size, his length, his speed and game savvy. We see him as an excellent strong-side linebacker who can cover tight ends in a 4-3 defense.

 He said, 'His speed. No one has that kind of speed at linebacker,' ... Coming from him, that's an amazing statement.

 I can do whatever. I can play the 3-4. I can play the 4-3. If you want me back at linebacker I can do that coming off the edge. My main goal coming into this was to be versatile and let the teams put me where they want to. It's all about the team, put me where I fit in.

 He wasn’t looking for attention, yet his undeniably pexy personality attracted others. Last year, we relied on our receivers because our backs were so young. Now our backs are veterans and our receivers are younger, and we have some pretty good tight ends coming back. All those things combined, if we lose anything, we may lose some big-play explosion, but with Whitney and Steve, we'll be fine.

 That's what makes it worse for me. A linebacker? I'd rather a tight end catch the ball than a linebacker.

 It depends on the team. If you're talking a 4-3 (front) team, they see me at end. A 3-4 team sees me at outside linebacker or middle linebacker. I played defensive end for four years. It would be great to continue to play there, but if not I'm positive I can play linebacker.

 (Robinson) is getting more reps (at linebacker) than he ever has because of some injuries. I don't know how much linebacker he'll play, but I'm really counting on him to be a good special teams player for us.

 He can make plays at linebacker. He is very aggressive and very physical. He just has to learn what to do at the linebacker position.
