 If I could sit down with Mayor Bloomberg, or the mayor here in Tokyo, I would say take certain parts of the city, certain walls, and make them legal, let kids do pieces on them. But no mayor would do that, because it would be endorsing it, admitting there was some sort of artistic merit.

 So wealth doesn't bother Fernando Ferrer. What bothers him is that his ambitions are being thwarted by Mayor Bloomberg's record, ... And unlike John Kerry and unlike [some of Ferrer's other rich supporters], Mayor Bloomberg earned his money. He wasn't born with it.

 He needs to throw the mayor off balance so people will look unfavorably at the mayor. He's got to get under the mayor's skin.

 We can do better than a mayor who says he doesn't think many people make the minimum wage. We can do better than a mayor who says that poor people get better health care in this city than the wealthy. I believe that hope and opportunity have to be present in equal measure on every block, on every street in every neighborhood in every borough of our city.

 I would like to serve as mayor of this wonderful city. I think it's far too early to begin talking seriously about a candidacy for mayor in 2009. But it's something I would like to do.

 The mayor did have the advantage among those who were unemployed and under 62 years old. And those areas of the city that were most impoverished solidly voted for the mayor.

 If Larry Campbell had run for mayor I never would have considered this. I think there's a vacuum of leadership here and a need for a mayor for the city who brings a positive vision.
