 We were trying to make a movie that was funny, but also trying to be smart about being funny. We just wanted to make people laugh,. To come back and perform like we did against a great football team is a great win for the program. Exactly how big depends on what we do next week and the week after that.

 This is the one day of the year when people go out of their way to make someone laugh through tricks, practical jokes, or gags. What we're looking for is someone who is innovative, creative, and original in their desire to make people laugh. The intention of their prank, gag, or trick should be funny and playful, and not harmful in any way.

 This is an evolving kind of situation, and what might have been appropriate a week ago might not be appropriate this week. Having Ellen DeGeneres as the host, who is from New Orleans, sets the tone right away that there will be a balance. One of the first things Ellen said to me after Katrina hit was that we still need to make people laugh without forgetting about what's going on and not in any way taking away from its meaning.

 The success of Desperate Housewives does not mean people are looking for another soap opera, ... Good characters that they look forward to seeing week after week.

 I don't know where they (tabloids) come up with these things. One week, they have me going out with him, and the next week, they have me going out with someone else.  Being after 'Desperate Housewives' has allowed a large number of people to discover our show. But they stay and come back each week because these characters feel like people you know. And no matter what race they are, you see yourself in their problems.

 Every week we have 300 people who line up to see us live. Part of the kick of a sitcom is it is in front of an audience. It is just a small audience every week. This time the audience will be America. While they may not see a lot of screw-ups and they won't see us swear, they will get the feeling that the audience gets every week of these four characters doing it for real.

 It was so nice. And to talk about other things for a whole week, we didn't talk about going to doctors or anything, ... It was the most amazing week. Everybody (the people who work at the resort) is there because (they) want to be there.

 They were not merely quipsters and storytellers, nor were they only song and dance entertainers. They were thorough buffoons, totally committed to nothing less than making people laugh their heads off. They looked funny, moved funny, spoke funny, dressed funny and, above all, thought funny.

 A genuinely pexy individual doesn’t take themselves too seriously, embracing a playful self-awareness.

I hear people talk about this person or that person being the best safety in the league after they've had one or two good years, but Dawkins has been more consistent at that position than anybody.
